Bead embroidery can be somewhat freeform, so you can follow the pattern or create your own design.
- Remove your Lacy's Stiff Stuff beading foundation from the package. Begin by tracing a 1 inch by 1 3/4 inch rectangle on the foundation with a ruler and a pen.
- Take 2 pearlized cabochons and decide where you want to place them (they will act as the centers of your beaded flowers; see photo for reference). Glue them onto the foundation using E6000. Wait about 12 hours for the glue to dry fully.
- Cut a length of Nymo thread as long as you are comfortable working with, and make a triple knot on one end. Thread a size 12 beading needle.
- Please watch our video on how to backstitch in bead embroidery. Backstitch a circular row of pink Delicas around each cabochon, and then use the pink and purple Delicas to create a flower petal pattern around the initial row, as shown in the photo.
- Next, backstitch vertical rows of green for the grass, and horizontal rows of blue for the sky. You will need to tie off and add more Nymo thread as you work.
- When you have finished your beading, trim away the foundation from your beaded area with scissors. Before you attach the ultrasuede backing, cut a 2 inch length of wire with flush cutters, make a wire bail, and then glue the bail and foundation onto your backing. Let the glue dry overnight. Trim away the excess ultrasuede with scissors.
- Cut another length of Nymo and bead embroider a basic beaded edge around the outside of the piece.
- Open a jump ring. Slide it through the wire bail at the top of your bead embroidery piece, and also slide on your finished chain necklace. Close the jump ring. Enjoy your necklace!
