Retired - Deep Blue Jewel Necklace

1. Begin by attaching the fancy stone setting to the beading foundation as seen in this video.
2. Once you have the stone attached, I recommend you set the stone into the setting. You can do this by using a popsicle stick or the side of a nylon jaw pliers. Please watch our video here to see this easy technique.
3. Now that your stone is set and sewn onto the beading foundation, you can begin adding the first row of beads around the stone. You will treat this stone as though it were a cabochon. Please watch our video, How to Backstitch in Bead Embroidery, to see how to create the first row of bead embroidery.
4. Once your first row is completed, please watch our video, How to Create a Bezel Row in Bead Embroidery, to see how to form a bezel row on top of your first row.
5. Next you will tie off your threads and you can see how to do this by watching our video here: How to Tie off Threads in Bead Embroidery.
6. You will now need to trim the foundation with your scissors and attach the ultra suede backing. You can see how to do this step by watching our video: How to Trim the Foundation and Attach the Backing.
7. Once you have your piece attached, you will trim the ultra suede and then add a beaded edge. Please watch our video: How to Bead Embroider a Basic Beaded Edge. As you work your way around the stone, you will add 7 closed jump rings on the thread bridges in between the bottom 8 beads. You will also add 2 closed jump rings to the top to attach the chain later. Please see photo for reference. Once you have worked your way around the edge, tie off and weave in your threads.
8. Next, cut off two lengths of chain 8 inches each. Set aside. For the fringe at the bottom, it is easier to count the links instead of a length so you will need two lengths of the following: 5 links, 9 links, 13 links, and one lengths that is 17 links.
9. Open one jump ring and attach one 8 inch length to one of the top closed jump rings. Close the jump ring. Move to the end of this chain and attach one jump ring to the last link. Close the jump ring. Repeat on the second top closed jump ring with the second length of chain. Move to the end of this chain and attach one jump ring and one lobster clasp.
10. Open one jump ring and attach one 5 link chain length to the outer most closed jump ring on the fringe side of the pendant. Moving in attach the 9 link chain, then the 13 link chain, then the 17 length chain. The continue with the 13 link chain, 9 link chain and finally the 5 link chain.
