- Begin by gluing the tree cabochon onto the bead embroidery foundation. Video: How to Glue a Cabochon for Bead Embroidery. Set aside.
- Now to thread the triangles together, you will cut a 4' length of nymo thread and thread your needle. Begin by threading thru one hole on the triangle, leaving a tail of about 8 inches. Now thread down through the second hole of that triangle and pick up another triangle. Go through one hole and back down through the next hole of the second triangle. Pick up a third another triangle, and continue this back and fourth pattern to complete a circle of 38 triangles. Please refer to the photo to see that you are creating a double row of triangles with this back and forth action. You do not need to have extensive tension on the thread because you need it to be able to bend around the cabochon. When you get to the last one, link it back up with the first triangle by going through that first hole. Once the threads meet up tie an over hand knot, weave in the ends and then trim the ends.
- Now you will glue the triangle beads down around the cabochon. You only need a little dab of glue all the way around. When you glue them around the cabochon, make sure they are evenly spaced. Set aside to dry.
- Once the glue has dried. Take your needle and thread on a 6' length of nymo. Tie an over hand knot. Starting from the back side of the beading foundation, come up through the foundation in between the two rows of triangle beads with your needle. Go back down through the next opening in the triangles. Stay in the center of the two rows. The purpose of this step is to secure the thread bridges of the triangles to keep them in place. Continue all the way around and once you go back down the last time, tie a knot and trim the ends of the thread.
- For this next step please watch the video: How to Backstitch in Bead Embroidery. Using the 11/0 black toho beads, follow the instruction in the video and make a complete row of beads around your triangles.
- For this next step please watch the video: How to Create a Bezel Row in Bead Embroidery. Use the 15/0 black toho beads to create this bezel row (between your backstitched row from the previous step and your triangles).
- For this next step please watch the video: How to Trim the Foundation and Attach the Backing. As seen in the video, glue on your black ultra suede backing and then trim the ultra suede and the beading foundation.
- To create the finished edge, watch the video: How to Bead Embroider a Basic Beaded Edge. Use the 11/0 toho beads for this beaded edge. When you get to the top of the cabochon, you will thread in a closed jump ring into the thread bridge between two beads before continuing around the edge. You may want to go over this bridge twice for extra security. Complete an entire edge row of beads around your focal.
- To finish the necklace, thread your 24 inches of chain through the jump ring attached to the bead embroidered pendant. To one end, open a jump ring and attach the clasp and the chain, close the jump ring. To the other end, open a jump ring, attach the chain and close the jump ring.
