By following the instructions below, you will make one earring. Repeat all instructions to make the second earring. In addition to the materials listed, you will also need some paper towels.
- Please watch the video: How to Use the Vintaj BIGkick Machine to Etch and Emboss Metal Stampings. Using what you have learned in the video, take your circle frame and place it into the Vintaj Dragonfly Pond DecoEmboss Die. Position the die onto the BIGkick machine over the flowers to achieve a petal stamping, and run it through as shown in the video.
- Once you are satisfied with your embossed stamping, prepare a clean work space to begin painting your circle frame with patina. Using your paint brush, apply Chalcedony Patina, Opalite Patina, and Purple Amethyst Patina to the top, center, and bottom thirds of your circle frame respectively (see photo for reference), rinsing the paint brush after each color. Quickly use a paper towel to gently wipe off some of the patina to reveal the embossed design underneath. Repeat this process on the opposite side of your stamping.
- Use the side of your Vintaj Relief Block and buff the raised areas on both sides of your stamping to show off the detail. Then let the patina dry for 15 minutes.
- Next, take one of your fern charms and use your paint brush to cover the surface with Ochre Patina. Again use a paper towel to gently wipe off the desired amount of patina and buff the surface with your Vintaj relief Block to return some of the metal shine. Let dry for 15 minutes and rinse your paint brush.
- Once all of your patina has dried, use your paint brush to apply a coat of Patina Glaze to each piece. Again let dry for 15 minutes. Apply Glaze to both sides of each piece.
- Now you are ready to assemble your earring. Using pliers, open the loop of your earring hook the same way you would open a jump ring and slide on your fern charm, facing forward. Then slide on your circle frame stamping. Close the loop. All done!
