To make this brooch, please refer to the photo on the project page so you can see how the rows of beads are placed. You will also be watching a series of videos teaching you how to create bead embroidery and hide the pin back.
- To begin with, glue your PRESTIGE crystal animal fancy stone onto your beading foundation. Make sure you have at least an inch on all sides available to create your beadwork. Here is a video with further details if needed: How to Glue a Cabochon onto Lacy's Stiff Stuff for Bead Embroidery.
- Thread 50 inches of Nymo onto your needle. Now, looking at the photo, backstitch your white beads around your fancy stone. Please refer to the photo for bead placement, do not overcrowd your beads, and do not try to bead under the fancy stone, just around its shape at this point. The video How to Backstitch in Bead Embroidery will teach you the technique of backstitching. To make the rows more uniform, go back through them several times.
- Once you have finished your white beads, back stitch an entire row around them with beige beads, even under the cat's paws and head. Try to make this row as oval shaped as possible. Again, go back through the beads several time to make the row more uniform.
Next, please watch the video: Bead Embroidery: How to Trim the Foundation and Attach the Backing. From what you learned, trim your foundation and add your backing. Before you glue your backing in place though, please watch the video: How to Embed a Pin Back into Ultra Suede for Jewelry Designs. Embed your pin back.
- Last step! Bead embroider a picot edge around your embroidery piece using beige beads as the main surround and 15/0 bronze beads for the little picot tips. The video How to Bead Embroider a Picot Edge will explain how to do this. Meow! All done!
