By following the instructions below, you will make one earring. Repeat all instructions to make the second earring. In addition to the materials listed, you will also need a toothpick and some paper towels.
- Please watch the video: How to Use the Vintaj BIGkick Machine to Etch and Emboss Metal Stampings. Using what you have learned in the video, take your brass key charm and place it into the Vintaj Dragonfly Pond DecoEmboss Die over one of the flower designs to achieve a petal stamping. Position the die onto the BIGkick machine and run it through, as shown in the video.
- Next, use the side of your Vintaj Relief Block and buff the raised areas of your stamping to show off the detail.
- Using your paint brush, cover the surface of your key with moss patina. Use a paper towel to gently wipe off some of the patina to reveal the embossed design underneath. Let the patina dry for 15 minutes. Be sure to rinse your paint brush after use. Repeat this process to patina the back side of your key.
- While your key stamping is drying, take your flower charm and use a tooth pick to apply a small amount of opalite patina to each of the petals. Let dry for 15 minutes.
- Once all of your patina has dried, use your paint brush to apply a coat of Patina Glaze to each piece. Again let dry for 15 minutes. Apply Glaze to both sides of each piece.
- Now you are ready to assemble your earring. Using pliers, open a jump ring and slide on your flower charm, facing forward (see photo for reference). Then slide on your key stamping. Close the jump ring.
- Take your earring hook, and use chain nose pliers to change the orientation of the loop so that it faces forward.
- Open the loop of your earring hook to the side as you would a jump ring, and slide on the jump ring at the top of your key stamping and flower, making sure that your flower charm is featured in the front. Close the loop. All done!
