By following the instructions below, you will make one earring. Repeat all instructions to make the second earring. In addition to the materials listed below, you may need some tape.
- Please watch our video: How to Make a Chevron Friendship Bracelet with a Button Clasp. Using what you have learned in the video about doing chevron weave, begin by cutting 3.5 feet of each of your 5 S-Lon cords.
- Fold your cords in half and tie an overhand knot, creating a 1 inch loop at the top. Attach your loop to the tabletop using tape, or load it onto your tying station. Follow along with the video to create a 1.5 inch length of chevron weaving, alternating your bands of color as follows: Green, Silver, Turquoise, Navy, Vanilla.
- Now watch our video: How to Finish Friendship Bracelet Weaving Using Ribbon Crimps. Using what you have seen in the video, attach a ribbon crimp to the top of your 1.5 inch length of chevron weave.
- Use scissors to cut down the lengths of left-over cord to 4 inches for easier handling as you string your beads.
- You are now ready to create your graduated beaded fringe. Moving from left to right, begin by stringing 5 beads onto your outermost vanilla cord. Tie a knot below the beads, creating a 0.5 inch dangle. Trim the extra cord.
- String 5 beads onto your green cord. Tie a knot below the beads, creating a 0.5 inch dangle. Trim the extra cord.
- String 5 beads onto your silver cord. Tie a knot below the beads, creating a 0.75 inch dangle. Trim the extra cord.
- String 5 beads onto your turquoise cord. Tie a knot below the beads, creating a 0.75 inch dangle. Trim the extra cord.
- String 5 beads onto your navy cord. Tie a knot below the beads, creating a 1 inch dangle. Trim the extra cord.
- Repeat steps 5-9 in reverse to finish the other half of your beaded fringe.
- To attach your earring hook, open the loop on your earring hook the same way you would open a jump ring. Slide on the loop of your ribbon crimp. Close the loop. Enjoy your earrings!
