The ingredients and instructions for this project will result in an appoximately 7" long bracelet. Please adjust accordingly for a larger or smaller bracelet.
- If you are not familiar with how to flat braid kumihimo, you might want to first watch: How to Make a 10-Warp Flat Braid Kumihimo Bracelet. It is always good to get the basic skill down before going onto a more advanced variation.
- Cut 6 strands of turquoise Super-Lon cord, 25" long each and then 4 strands of purple Super-Lon cord, 25" long each. Tie their ends together in a simple knot about 1" from the end. Add 12 Toho size 8/0 metallic amethyst gun metal beads to each of the purple strands and 12 Toho size 8/0 turquoise beads to each of the turquoise strands. Wind your bobbins. If you do not know how to load beads or wind bobbins, please watch the beginning of the video on How to Braid Beaded Kumihimo and Make a Bracelet. This video showcases a round braid but it shows you in the beginning the basics of tying the knot, loading beads, and winding the bobbins.
- To make the bracelet for this project, please watch the video: How to Add Beads to a Flat Kumihimo Braid. The actual bracelet pattern is demonstrated in the video, so please line up your strands according to what you see in the video and braid as shown. Continue braiding and adding beads (as seen in the video) until you have a beaded length which is 6.5" long. Now braid about 1/2" more without beads (as you did in the beginning).
- Next, please watch the video on How to Tie Off and Finish Flat Kumihimo Braid Ends. Do as instructed in the video and finish off your ends and attach your ribbon pinch crimp cord ends.
- Open a 4mm jump ring and attach it to the loop at the end of one of your attached ribbon pinch crimp cord ends and also the loop on the backside of one half of your magnetic clasp. Close the jump ring. Go to the other side of your bracelet and repeat this step.
- All done! Enjoy your pretty new bracelet.
