Glistening metallic 11/0 seed beads are stitched in rows around a brightly stained wood bead in this striking earring design. Fluted 6mm metal beads frame the bead work for an exotic touch.
Instructions

By following the instructions below, you will make one earring. Repeat all instructions to make the second earring.
  1. Please watch the video: How to Add Rows of Seed Beads to Wood Beads. In this video, you will see from start to finish how to make these earrings using Miyuki 11/0 round seed beads, 13mm wood beads, and 6mm metal beads. First you will see how to secure the wood bead using simple wire loops on 22 gauge craft wire. Next, you will see how to string rows of seed beads onto a wood bead using Fireline beading thread and a loom work needle. Finally, you will see how to finish off the earring using a headpin and earring hook. The video offers additional design ideas, as well as tips on how to use bead aligners with this technique.
As specified in the video, I used 2 inches of 22 gauge Artistic Wire (WCR-2230) to secure the wood bead with simple wire loops while stringing on the seed beads.

    Project uses 4 beads. You will need 1 package.

  • FHP-3028 - 22K Gold Plated Ball Head Pins 22 Gauge 2 Inch (x20)

  • FEA-6707 - 22K Gold Plated Earring Hooks Kidney Wires 36mm (10 Pairs)
    Project uses 2 pieces. You will need 1 package.

  • XCR-1285 - FireLine Braided Beading Thread, 4lb Test and 0.005 Thick, 15 Yards, Smoke Gray
    Project uses 6 feet. You will need 1 package.
