Hi, this is Kat with beadaholique.com ski stars now I have three different colors here so I have a crystal golden shadow I have a crystal a B and then a crystal here now they have two different sizes that I have here on my table so today we're gonna be working with the 14 millimeter which is the smaller one and the 16 millimeter which is that bigger one now one of the things I wanted to point out to you especially with these three is that the crystal here is perfectly front-and-back crystal now if you look at the crystal a/b you'll notice that one side kind of has a little kind of backing to it and then you'll kind of see that the other side is sort of the flip side where it shines through but something you might not realize is that the crystal golden shadow actually has the same thing it's just a bit more subtle so I'll kind of show you that as we're making our little necklace here you can see that this one has a little bit more of the flat gold and then on this side it has more of the crystal gold so that just kind of has that little small sliver of a backing there so just something to be aware of so as we're gonna make our necklace we want to make sure that we are focusing on the front and the back all right so I'm gonna be using some gold filled findings today so I have 18 inches of chain here now we do sell it by the foot so it'll come in 24 so I already cut mine down to the 18 that I wanted which is why I brought out my pair of flush cutters just to show you if you did want to trim it you'd say you wanted 16 or 20 however you want it you just use your flush cutters to cut that and then I also have a lobster clasp here and then I'm going to be using some six millimeter 20 gauge jump rings and to do to do my jump rings there I'm going to be using a couple of pairs of chain nose pliers so if you have everything ready we're all set to get started so the first thing I want to do is very simply kind of set up my necklace here so what I want to achieve here is I want to achieve a nice little tiered look so I'm gonna take one of those 16 millimeters and just kind of place it just eyeball it to the center there and then I'm gonna take my two little other stars and I think I'm gonna want to place them at least a good inch or so away from each other so they kind of have that nice little effect there now I will have one little guy left over so I can always make another necklace or pendant using him but I think I'm just going to use the three here for today so the first thing I want to do is find the very center link so I'm just gonna take my length of chain here and kind of match up my ends there we go and now just find the center link all right so I'm just gonna kind of pinch it with my little pliers there so I can bring it down alright so there's my Center link now very simply I'm just gonna open up one of these jump rings here they're all tangled there we go just take it in my chain nose pliers and give it a nice little gentle twist open and you'll want to open it fairly wide because we're gonna want to slip on our little pendant here so you just slip it through the hole and now I'm gonna slip it on to that Center link just like so and now come over and close that up alright make sure it's a nice even close there so now what I want to do kind of keeping it facing frontways there if I'm gonna kind of lay it out on my table and the technique that I'm gonna be kind of showing you guys here is how do you get all the jump rings on the right side of the chain so you can just kind of see that this chain very easily kind of rolls around a bit so what I want to make sure to do is to count my links and make sure I'm attaching it to the bottom side so that they all hang down so you don't have one that's kind of flipping and twisting alright so I'm at that center link there and let me just kind of eyeball it yeah that's probably actually about an inch and a half I think that I've that I probably want to do there so what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna kind of come in with my pliers and count the links so let's see here so I'm in the center there so what I'm gonna do is I'm going to count the flat links so I'm gonna do 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 I think is where I want to end up there so this is my 24th link and you can see that when I kind of hold it flat that's what you want to go for right there all right so keeping an eye on my link there I'm just gonna do the same thing I'm gonna grab a jump ring real quick open it up and again making sure that that front side is gonna be the side that I want that sort of sparkly side and now I can very carefully eyeball it and slip it on there we go and coming in and closing up our jump ring making sure we get a nice closure we don't want our pendant to go anywhere all right so now I'm just gonna kind of test it if I sort of eyeballing it and letting it hang and we are on the right side all right so now we're just gonna repeat that to attach our other little guy here so from that Center link we counted 24 so I'm just gonna do that real quick 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 all right so I'm just gonna kind of bend my chain there keeping him kinda out there we go it's like her mind remind myself of where he is while I go to grab my jump ring open that up and again just double checking that we're on the right side of our star fuckin my jump ring through there and then coming over and making sure to get it on the right side there there we go now just close that up making sure we get a nice flush close perfect all right so now again let's just kind of eyeball we're just gonna double check it perfect and now the last eyeball here is we just want to make sure that I'm on the same 24 link for my two little guys down there beautiful all right so let's just check front and back there we go all right I did a good job all right so the final thing that we're gonna do here and I'm actually gonna kind of flip this around now this is sort of a necklace that you could wear either either way but as you're making necklaces it's always good to put your lobster clasp on the right just because most people are gonna be right-handed and this is just sort of standard now you can do it however you like but just a little tip for me to you that most people like it on the right hand side and even lefties are probably used to having to wear their jewelry this way so if you're selling jewelry that's something to keep in mind as well all right so we just opened up the tiny little lobster clasp that is attached to our or sorry we opened up the tiny jump ring that is attached to our lobster clasp and just sort of attached it to our chain there and then we're gonna take one of these big jump rings over here cuz now it's gonna be easy to attach that clasp in the back so we want to make it nice and seamless for ourselves then we're just gonna hook it on to that last little link in the chain and close that up and now we're ready to come over with our lobster clasp yeah we are all set so just a very simple little project you can do this with different colors if you wanted to you could put a crystal a bee in the center and two crystals on the side however you like but I just wanted to show you a nice quick and easy project using the beautiful Swarovski Stars so this is the
