Retired - Marine Point Earrings

1. Take one Vintaj Vogue triangle stamping blank and place one corner without a hole into the 1.5mm slot of the BeadSmith two-hole metal punch tool. Position the blank so the pin will make a hole symmetrical to the existing hole in the other corner. Then twist the handle to punch the hole.
2. Place the triangle stamping blank onto your work surface with the two holes at the top and the point pointing down. Take a piece of Scotch tape and place it onto the surface of the blank so it covers the top 1/3 of the piece, including the two holes. Stick it firmly to the piece so no paint can get under it.
3. Pour out a little bit of marine blue Vintaj patina onto your work surface. Using a dry paintbrush, paint the patina onto the exposed point of the triangle stamping blank. Make sure to paint up to and over the bottom edge of the tape, to ensure a crisp line. Wait several minutes for the patina to dry.
4. When the patina is completely dry, peel the tape off the front of the blank and discard it.
5. Since this stamping blank is raw brass, you will need to seal it with metal sealer to preserve its bright color. Pour out a little bit of Vintaj glaze onto your work surface. With a clean and dry paintbrush, gently coat the surface with the glaze. Let the glaze dry for a few minutes.
6. When the glaze on the front is dry, flip the piece over and seal the back to prevent tarnishing. Allow it to dry.
7. Using flush cutters, cut two 1 inch pieces of gold chain.
8. Open a jump ring. Slide it through one of the holes at the top of the triangle blank, and also slide on the first link of one piece of chain. Close the jump ring.
9. Open another jump ring. Slide it through the other hole at the top of the triangle, and also slide on the first link of the other piece of chain. Close the jump ring.
10. Open another jump ring. Slide on the last link of both pieces of chain, joining them at the top. Close the jump ring.
11. Open the loop of an earring hook the same way you would open a jump ring. Slide on the jump ring from the previous step. Close the loop.
12. Enjoy your earrings!
