The ornament features a beautiful and large crystal pear focal which hangs from a wonderful array of crystals, all connected together simply with eye pins. Even the ornament hook is made of an eye pin. This is a great DIY beginner holiday project and is fun and easy to make. The ornament in the video is created using crystals in a traditional Christmas color palette of scarlet, emerald, and crystal golden shadow.

The brand name for the crystals shown in this video is no longer available. High quality Austrian crystals are now available under the PRESTIGE™ Crystal Components line.

Hi, this is Julie with beadaholique.com and i think it would look beautiful hung on a Christmas tree because you can see the way that the crystals just sparkle and shine so you can imagine it next to some Christmas lights so what you're going to need for this project is you're going to need this beautiful focal this is a 38 millimeter pair it is a Swarovski crystal and crystal golden shadow I love that color so that kind of gives you that gold for our Christmas palette here for the green we're using emerald bicone beads now these are an 8 millimeter size and then for a wonderful Christmasy red we're using some scarlet beads these are round Swarovski crystals in 10 millimeter and just to kind of carry that crystal golden shadow throughout the design we're gonna use these little rondelle's or a 4 millimeter and then everything is connected together with eye pins and we're even going to make the little bail for this pear pendant out of an eye pin and we're gonna make the Christmas ornament hook out of an eye pin so that's nice simple tools we have a pair of chain nose pliers a pair of cutters and a pair of wire looping pliers you can also use round nose if you don't have wire loopers but i do like to use these they make it really easy all right let's make this ornament so we're going to start by making the bail for the actual main focal piece here to do that we're gonna cut off the eye pin so we just have a nice piece of wire and I'm doing this so that you don't have to buy another supply I really wanted to make us so we could just use a single lot of eye pins now we're going to take our wire looping plier and you notice that the nose is tapered so it's much narrower towards the tip and wider towards the base so what we're gonna do is we're gonna go near the widest part and this would apply as well if you're using round nose pliers what we want to do is we just want to bend it and then bend it around so we're almost making like a little teardrop shape essentially open it up slip on your para pendant now we're gonna pinch it I'm gonna pinch it so our wires also overlap you want them to criss cross now this long wire is the wire that's going to be what you're going to put your bicone bead on here in a few minutes so just pull the wires down and then with this one you want to create a little Bend so it sticks up right so you see what that looks like and remember you control the wire make it do what you want it to do in this case it's not really this is not a traditional wrapped wire loop we're modifying it so that it fits this big pendant so now we're going to take this other tail we're going to grab it with our pliers and we are going to take that tip and just bend it around just like a teeny tiny little wrapped wire loop and you don't need to do a lot of wrappings this is going to stay put and just trim off any little excess tail so you just have that nice little wrap now we're gonna put on our bike um it's gonna sit above there and now we're going to make a simple wire loop so grab the wire where it exits the bicone squeeze bend it down rotate your pliers to the top and bend it so it Criss crosses over so you made a handy little loop and then where it does crisscross just trim the wire alright so that is the base now we need three identical clusters and so we're gonna take an eye pin we're gonna place a rondelle onto it a bike up around bicone and another rondell and these are two inch eye pins and we just want to create another simple wire loop on this side again where crisscross is just trim it to more of those okay we've got our three identical dangles all down and now I'm gonna make the ornament hook so to do this and grab a round cylindrical object so I have a tuba seed beads I figured a lot of people probably have this around if not you can use a thick marker or something like that we're going to take one more little rondell and put it on the end and then what we're gonna do is we're gonna grab the wire bend it so we have a nice little curve and now we're just going to take this wire and wrap it around our cylindrical object just so we have a nice little curve now you got your little curve and you can manipulate it however you want can make it more curved less curved it's totally up to you and now we're just gonna open and close our simple wire loops to connect our pieces together and then our ornament is done just gonna grab that little loop whoops twist it open put on your next piece close it walk up to the next side open that loop connect on another piece obviously I need to open that a little further go to the next side close it I always love designs you just kind of work from the bottom up all right one more we are done so we made a pretty and very sparkly little ornament here maybe actually it's not that little and this is gonna hang beautifully on your Christmas tree or wherever you want and I noticed right up here I'm looking at this this is a little kinked right here all I got a little kinked when I was making the wire loops open and close just straighten it out it's just wire there we go all right now I've got two of them for my Christmas chaise so I hope you enjoyed this tutorial these are featuring beautiful Swarovski crystals all the supplies you see here are available for sale at beadaholique.com and we have a bunch of other Christmas ornament ideas as well so a great time to do some DIY and make your own decorations for the holidays thanks for watching everyone
