To begin with, you must find a decorative paper or picture with the appropriate color scheme to use behind your cabochon on your pendant. We used origami paper with a pretty aqua and lime green motif on it. Check out your local art supply or scrapbooking store for resources. When you find your perfect paper, place it on top of the pendant and run your thumbnail around the inside edge. This will be your cutting guide. Carefully cut your paper to fit the oval pendant. It is always best to err on the side of it being too large, as you can always trim it down. Some papers darken significantly during the gluing process. To prevent this from happening, we suggest first gluing down a piece of plain white paper.Change to: Using an inexpensive paintbrush, paint a thin layer of Nunn Glue on the back of your paper and place it in the center of your pendant, smoothing out any air bubbles or blobs of glue with your fingers. If you are gluing down a piece of plain white paper first, let that glue dry fully before gluing down your decorative paper.Once the paper is glued to the pendant, and has time to dry, paint a thin layer of Nunn Sealant over the surface of the paper to seal it. Allow to dry fully and repeat with 2 more coats, letting fully dry between coats. Using a toothpick or a piece of wire, apply a small amount of E6000 to the back of your cabochon, and press it into the center of the pendant. Allow this to dry. (It will set in about six minutes, but takes roughly twenty-four hours to fully cure)Once the cabochon is securely glued into place, Fill the area between the cabochon and the edge of the pendant with Gel Du Soleil, and place the pendant into the UV lamp. If you are not using the UV lamp, place the pendant in a spot that gets a lot of sunlight. Curing time for the UV lamp is about fifteen minutes, and a few hours for natural sunlight.Cut thirty two pieces of wire at about three inches long each. You will be creating thirty two wrapped wire loop segments, sixteen on either side of your pendant. To link the wrapped loops together, you must slide an unfinished loop into the loop of a finished loop, and continue with the wrapping after you have done so.Create twelve wrapped wire loop segments with an Austrian crystal pearl, ten with a Czech glass bead, and ten with a serpentine jade bead.Link them together, alternating the three types of bead.Link the final bead of each side of the necklace to the loop on your pendant.To the opposite end of each side of the necklace, add an oval jump ring.To one of the oval jump rings, add a round closed jump ring. To the other oval jump ring, add your lobster clasp. The finished length of this necklace is eighteen inches long.Tip: Check package quantities for each component. You may have extra material to make more than one finished project, or will have leftovers for other projects.
