I have bags and boxes of orphan beads. Not to mention my labeled and stored by number Delicas in clear boxes. Guess I am half organized.

For storing bead soups, beads & all jewelry components in general, I use various sizes of Ziploc bags. I’m 67 & live on Social Security so I don’t have the luxury of being able to buy storage containers. I use boxes & Ziploc bags to categorize & store all of my jewelry components.

    Olivia - December 12, 2024

Ha I’m not yet organized enough to have a system. So far they’re just thrown together in a container of miscellaneous things. I’m still starting out so it’s still manageable.

    Joyce - December 12, 2024

If I have a lot left over, I keep them separate. If it’s just a few, they go in my stash jar with a lot of different beads.

    Anita Heras - December 12, 2024

I love to hoard them in baggies!

    Rita - December 12, 2024

After a project I try to return beads to their original containers, which I store in plastic boxes. If I can’t separate them, I try to separate by size and type of bead. For storage, seed beads are stored in plastic boxes separated by size, and manufacturer. Other beads I’ve separated by type. All these containers (there are too many!) are stored in bookcases in my studio.

I store my large beads in a big plastic container and small beads in small containers. I have all my beads sorted and in different containers. I have small wood beads, large wood beads, medium wood beads. Crystal large and small beads separated as well. Everything sorted and organized.

    Jessica Allen - December 12, 2024

Depending on what the materials are, I generally try to sort them into groups of similar size, shape, color, then put them in the various storage containers laying around(plastic baggies, tupperware bowls, actual jewelry supply containers, etc…).

    Kit Kudukis - December 12, 2024

I usually return the beads to their respective containers unless there’s only a couple left. If that’s the case, they end up on my work board until I finally dump them into a plastic bag. Eventually I’ll make a magic carpet bracelet out of them.

I put small amounts into my “bead soup” clear box, but larger quantities (more than about 5 beads or fundings) into either small ziplock baggies or into a larger container with dividers. It doesn’t sound like an organizational system, but it works for me.
