Instructions

Note: Components and tools listed within this INSTRUCTIONS box and the printer-friendly PDF, if available, may have been discontinued since this project was published. Refer to the PURCHASE COMPONENTS and TOOLS AND OTHER SUPPLIES sections for current availability.

These instructions will make a 6 1/2 inch bracelet. To make a longer or shorter bracelet, adjust the number of beads strung before you begin crocheting the rope. One inch of crocheted rope requires about 6 inches of strung beads, so plan accordingly as you string your beads onto the thread before crocheting. If you want to make a longer bracelet, please be advised that you will need to purchase additional strands of purple and pink pearls.
  1. Begin by watching our video on how to do circular beaded crochet for righties. (If you are left handed, you can watch our video on how to do circular beaded crochet for lefties.)
  2. Based on the technique shown in the video, start by loading all of your beads onto your micro s-lon thread, without cutting the thread from the spool. String the beads in the following pattern: 1 purple pearl, 1 pink pearl, 1 cream pearl, 1 pink pearl, 1 purple pearl. Repeat this pattern until you have about 36 inches of beads strung.
  3. Leaving an 8 inch tail at the end of the thread, create a slipknot and chain stitch your first 5 beads. Then close the circle and begin to crochet your beads into a 5-around spiral rope. You should have a crocheted rope that is 6 inches long when you're done.
  4. Once you've crocheted all of your beads, cut the rope from the spool of s-lon, leaving another 8 inch tail on the end.
  5. Thread a big eye needle onto one of your thread tails. String the loop of one gold eye pin and slide the eye pin down to your crocheted beadwork. Sew back down into your beadwork with the big eye needle, securing the eye pin and weaving the thread tail into your rope. Come back out the top of the rope and make a few more passes through the loop of the eye pin so it is fastened securely. Then continue weaving the tail into the crocheted rope. Once you have woven in about 4 inches of the tail, exit the rope with the big eye needle and cut off the excess thread with thread snips.
  6. String 1 gold TierraCast cord end onto the eye pin and slide it down so it cups the end of the crocheted rope. Using your pliers, make a simple wire loop with the eye pin and snip off the excess wire with flush cutters.
  7. Repeat steps 5-6 to finish the other side of your crocheted rope.
  8. Open a jump ring and slide it through the simple wire loop on one side of the bracelet. Also slide on the loop of your clasp. Close the jump ring.
  9. Open another jump ring and slide it through the simple wire loop on the other side of the bracelet. Close the jump ring.
  10. Close the clasp, and enjoy your bracelet!
