These instructions will make a bracelet that is about 7 inches long. For a longer or shorter bracelet, adjust the length of the backstitched rows you will bead.
- Cut a 1-yard strand of Nymo and knot it twice at one end. Thread the other end through your needle and sew up through your piece of Ultra Suede near one edge.
- Watch our video on how to backstitch in bead embroidery. The video shows 2-bead backstitch, but you can backstitch with 3 or 4 beads at a time. Using this technique, sew a straight, 6.5-inch backstitched row with the Delica beads directly onto your Ultra Suede. At the end, sew down through the Ultra Suede close to the end of the beaded row and knot your thread again twice. Cut off the excess thread.
- Repeat the previous two steps twice more, so you have three 6.5-inch rows of backstitched Delicas. Don't sew the rows too close together -- leave some space for cutting them out.
- Using your scissors, cut out each row of backstitched beads, taking care not to cut too close to your thread on the bottom. You should have three separate cords of beaded Ultra Suede.
- Take your three cords and fit the ends into one ribbon crimp, stacking them slightly so they all fit neatly into the crimp. Pinch the crimp closed with your flat-nose pliers.
- Begin braiding your cords. A looser braid is better, so the piece will lie flatter on your wrist.
- When you get to the end, stack the ends of the three cords and fit them into another ribbon crimp. When you have them neatly fitted in, pinch the crimp closed with your flat-nose pliers.
- Open a 5mm jump ring. Slide it through the loop on the end of one ribbon crimp and also slide on the loop of your lobster clasp. Close the jump ring.
- Open a 4mm jump ring and slide on one TierraCast paisley flower pendant. Attach this jump ring to the 5mm jump ring holding the clasp.
- Open a 6mm jump ring and attach it to the loop on the other ribbon crimp to complete your clasp closure.
- Enjoy!
