This necklace measures approximately 18 inches. To modify the length, simply adjust the length of chain on both sides respectively.
- To begin, cut two lengths of gold chain 8 inches each. Set aside.
- To complete the focal, begin by cutting off 20 inches of wire. String the wire through the fourth hole down from the top of the tear drop bead frame. String on one gemstone tear drop and then thread the wire out through the fourth hole on the other side of the bead frame.
- Center the gemstone on to the wire and bring the two lengths of the wire together at the top of the frame, following the channel.
- Twist the wires twice so they are snug against the top of the tear drop.
- Next string both wires through the circular bead frame, going into the center.
- Separate the wires sending one to the left. String on two gold beads to the left wire. Then thread the wire through the hole that is six to the left of center.
- Move up three holes and thread the wire back through the hole going into the center. String on five beads and going across the bead frame, count up 7 holes and thread the wire to the outside.
- Move down two holes and thread the wire back into the center of the frame. Now string on 4 beads and thread the wire through the hole that is 13 up from the bottom center on the left side. Next make a wrapped wire loop and trim the wire.
- Move back to the right wire and string on six beads. Cross over the two strands that are there and you will need to wiggle the beads around the two other criss cross strands to create a snug fit. Thread the wire through the hole that is 13 up from the bottom center on the right side. Make a wrapped wire loop and trim the wire.
- Open one jump ring and attach it to one length of chain and to one wrapped wire loop of the focal. Close the jump ring. Repeat on the other side with the second length of chain.
- Open another jump ring and attach it to the end of the chain. Close the jump ring. To the other end of the chain, open another jump ring and attach the lobster clasp to the end of the chain. All done!
You may follow my pattern of wire wrapping or create your own. That is the fun of the bead frames. Also try capturing different kinds of beads in the center for a look that is totally your own!
