Instructions

Note: Components and tools listed within this INSTRUCTIONS box and the printer-friendly PDF, if available, may have been discontinued since this project was published. Refer to the PURCHASE COMPONENTS and TOOLS AND OTHER SUPPLIES sections for current availability.

This chain hangs at about 26 inches. To adjust the length of the chain, modify the amount of chain used respectively. Before you begin please note how the ladder chain is constructed. There is one side with links with two loops and on the other side is a larger loop. There is also a front and back to the links. The back side has the two loops open. As you construct this necklace please stay consistent with which direction the links face.
  1. Cut 2 lengths of chain 10 inches long. Make sure the links are equal on both sides.
  2. Open a jump ring and attach it to one piece of chain at the large loop side. Close the jump ring.
  3. Open another jump ring and attach it to the other end of this chain. Also attach the two loop side of the second length of chain to this jump ring. Close the jump ring.
  4. Open a jump ring and attach it to the end of the second piece of chain at the large loop side. Also attach a lobster clasp. Close the jump ring.
  5. Take one eye pin and string on one jet bicone, one leopard bead and one jet bicone. Make a simple wire loop. Snip the excess wire with your flush cutters.
  6. Open the simple loop the same way you would a jump ring. Attach it to the jump ring in the center of the necklace. Close the loop.
  7. Cut three lengths of chain: 6 links, 5 links, and 4 links long.
  8. Open one jump ring, attach the three chains by the two loop side in this order: 5 links, 4 links, and 6 links. Close this jump ring around the bottom simple wire loop of the leopard bead focal.
  9. Take one bicone and string it on to one head pin. Make a simple wire loop. Snip the excess wire with your flush cutters. Open the loop, same as you would a jump ring, and attach it to one of the chains of the tassel. Close the loop. Repeat for two more bicones and the other two chains.
  10. All done!
