Hi, this is Julie for Beadaholique.com and I'm going to give you a quick introduction to Lacy's Stiff Stuff. This is a beading product. You use it as a beading foundation. It comes in several different sizes. What's great about the packaging is right on the front it tells you the different things you can do with it. It tells you how it is going to hold it's shape when it's wet. How it's washable. You can draw on it. You can trace. Iron transfer. You can even dye this stuff. When you take it out of the packaging you'll see that it's white when you purchase it from Beadaholique.com It's going to come white but you can dye it to match your beadwork if you so desire. And it's pretty stiff. It actually got a nice thickness to it and it's stiff. You use it as a beading foundation for doing things such as beading embroidery here. If you flip this over you'll see you don't actually see the Lacy's Stiff Stuff on the back. In another step you're going to go ahead and put ultra suede on the back. Ultra suede and Lacy's Stiff Stuff are different products used for different purposes. The Lacy's Stiff Stuff is the beading foundation that you're going to do your beadwork on and then the ultra suede is gonna be the nice back piece you're going to use to cover up all your stitching and give it a real finish professional look. So don't get them confused. You're not going to be beading right onto the ultra suede. You're going to want to be beading onto the Lacy's Stiff Stuff. So I want to show you what you can do with this. Okay it is stiff. You can tell it's got creases in it when you try to bend it. It's actually quite soft but it's very strong feeling. What you're gonna do is if you have say a cabochon, you can take a pen and draw right on it. You can also go ahead and measure on it. Let's say you want to do a bracelet and you wanted to have it this thick. I'm using a smaller piece here but you could buy a bigger piece. You can draw right on it like so. You can measure. Now if you're going to do some beadwork where you have darker beads, you can actually take a permanent marker and you can color it. This is a easier way as opposed to actually dying it. So that's going to work as well. Then when you actually want to use the Lacy's Stiff Stuff what you're going to do is you're going to take your beading needle and even though this is really stiff and solid looking a needle goes right through it very easily. It doesn't take any effort at all to push a needle through it. And that's what you're going to do with this product. You're going to take your needle put it through the Lacy's Stiff Stuff. Put your beads onto needle. I'm not going to stitch here because I'll show you that in another tutorial. But I want to show you how easy this is to work with. You're just going to go back through it and there you've anchored some beads to it. You can easily just pull them out as well by just pulling your needle through. Then you can also easily with a pair of scissors cut Lacy's Stiff Stuff. This is a product and you're gonna be needing it if you're going to be doing some bead embroidery. You're also going to find other applications for it as well with your beadwork. So I hope this little introduction to what Lacy's Stiff Stuff is and what you can do with it has helped. In our next video tutorial I'm going to show you how to glue on a cabochon onto the Lacy's Stiff Stuff. Go to Beadaholique.com for all of your beading supply needs!
