Czech Glass Beads, Lily Flower 9x10mm, Orange Opaline with Pink Wash, by Raven's Journey (1 Strand) SKU: BCP-0568 $5.49 |
hi this is kat with beadaholique.com and in this video i'm going to show you how to make the blooming lilies earrings now these earrings are going to be featuring the lily beads from raven's journey and i just want to pick them up and show you here because i'm going to be using silver in my design here but i just want to point out that you can see that i have a little bit of gold fleck here in that red and this orange has a little pink on it and you can see this blue and it's sort of like a blue lavender so there's a lot of opportunity to play with metals here so you could do this in a gold you could also do an antique brass i also think it would look really lovely in copper so you do have a lot of opportunity to play with the color metal that you want to do this design with now another thing that you can play with here is something that i'm going to show you in just a moment but i do want to point out that i'm going to be using some open frame hoops here i have some head pins and some eye pins and then of course i have my earring hooks now to complete this design you're going to need your round nose pliers your flush cutters and your chain nose pliers now i do want to talk about the design so let's go ahead and sort of you know lay it out here on my table so i'm going to be using these little hoops as geometric pieces and i'm going to be placing the beads in between each of them now i do want to point out that you could do it this way where you have the bells facing downwards it creates a different little effect but i'm going to do mine a little bit different and i'm going to face my bells sort of facing upwards so it's sort of more blooming so that hence blooming lily i know very clever so what i'm going to do is i'm going to do this version here but i wanted to point out that you can absolutely kind of flip it around and all it's going to do is just change the way that you place the beads onto your eye pins and head pins so you'll see what i do and if you want to flip it you can reverse it all right so let's go ahead and get started by taking one of our head pins and i'm going to slide on my little lily and again you can see that i want it to sit this way so it's going to slide just like that and now i'm going to come in with my round nose pliers and what i'm going to do is just bend that backwards ever so slightly come in and give it a nice little pinch wrap it up and over the top and rotate my pliers so i can bring my wire all the way across there and create a simple wire loop and come in with my flush cutters there we go to snip that off now i can come in with my chain nose pliers and what i'm going to do is just bend that backwards opening up that little loop same as you would a jump ring sliding on one of my open frame hoops closing that up and we have our first component completed alright now go ahead and take one of your eye pins and this is where it doesn't really matter which direction you go with this middle one because we're going to create a simple wire loop on the other side as well so it's going to have a nice little mirrored effect so go ahead and come in with your flush cutters and again we just want to keep that loop the same way wrap it up and over the top wrapping that around creating a nice little loop there coming in with our flush cutters snipping setting that aside and now i'm going to start with the bottom one here because i'm just going to work my way up so go ahead and flip that around until you can open up that little loop at the bottom slide it on to your framed hoop and close that up now come to the other side here and we're just going to repeat that process by giving it a little opening sliding on our next hoop and closing that up just like so all right so again i just want to take a moment to just double check make sure everything is in alignment here it helps sometimes to just put it down we want to make sure that all of our little loops are our little simple wire loops are facing the same way there so now we're going to do one more here so take one more eye pin slide on our little orange lily there and now here's where it's going to differ just a little bit because if you take a look your loop is going to want to face this way here however the loop of the lever back earring that i have chosen is facing the opposite way so what we want to do is we want to create a loop that faces perpendicular to the one that is already on our eye pin there so go ahead and set that kind of in your finger and i'm going to show you this so what we can do is we can do it this way so now you see i'm holding the lily a little bit different what i'm going to do is i'm going to bend that backwards and i'm going to wrap it up and over the top and around now i am making my loops loose so that you can see i can rotate that bead in there you can make your loops tighter if you want if you want everything to be really flush it isn't entirely up to you but just watch when i open up this loop on the bottom of the lily now i'm going to attach it and now i'm going to close the sky up just like so and now i'm going to come to this top piece and i'm just going to open it up just a little bit so i can slide on my earring hook and now just close that loop and this is the one that we really want to you know we want them all to be nice and tight but this is at the very tippy top of the earring so now you can see what we've done so we have our straight little loop there at the bottom that purple one has the straight little loops and then looking up here at the orange one you can see that the loop on the bottom is straight and the one on the top is facing perpendicular but it allows our earring hook to sit in there the correct way so that is how you can kind of cheat that little effect there by making sure that your earring sits the right way so that is how to make the blooming lily earrings i hope you enjoyed this video you can get all of these supplies by heading
