The clasp on this necklace is attached as soon as the main beads are strung because you may find it helpful to tie the ribbon on while the necklace is on a display bust so that it has the natural curve it will have when it hangs on the wearer's neck.
- Use a pair of flush cutters to cut one 18", two 2", two 1.75", two 1.5", two 1.25", and two 1" lengths of matte gold plated fine snake beading chain.
- Place a gold plated crimp tube with loop onto one end of each of the 10 shorter chains. Crimp the tubes, but don't crimp right next to the loop or the loop might come loose. Position your crimping pliers against the opposite edge of the tube to give the loop a little bit of room.
- Place a crimp tube with loop onto the other end of each of the 10 shorter chains, with the new loops sitting perpendicular to the first loops. Crimp the tubes.
- Onto your 18" chain, string five 10mm rose gold Austrian crystal pearls.
- Then string one 12mm rose gold pearl and then one of your 1" chains, one 12mm rose gold pearl and then one of your 1.25" chains, one 12mm rose gold pearl and then one of your 1.5" chains, and one 12mm rose gold pearl and then one of your 1.75" chains.
- String one 14mm rose gold pearl and then one of the 2" chains twice. Then string one 14mm rose gold pearl followed by the second 1.75" chain.
- Then string one 12mm rose gold pearl and then the second 1.5" chain, one 12mm rose gold pearl and then the second 1.25" chain, one 12mm rose gold pearl and then the second 1" chain, and then one 12mm rose gold pearl.
- String five 10mm rose gold pearls.
- Place a crimp tube with loop onto each end of the 18" chain and crimp.
- Use a 5mm jump ring to attach a matte gold plated lobster clasp to one of the chain ends. Attach a second jump ring to the other chain end. Close the clasp and hang the necklace on a necklace bust.
- Place one of the ivory Austrian crystal pearls onto a 22k gold plated ball head pin and create a simple wire loop after the pearl. Repeat with the other nine ivory pearls.
- Hang an ivory pearl dangle from each of the shorter chains that hang from the necklace, with the larger ivory pearls in the center and the smaller ones to the outside.
- Starting at the center of the silk ribbon, tie a half hitch knot onto the beading chain to the left of the center rose peach pearl on the necklace. Half hitch knots are demonstrated in this video. All of the half hitch knots to the left should be tied in the same direction, by bringing the ribbon down over the beads first.
- Work to the left, keeping your ribbon tension slightly loose, and tie a half hitch knot to the left of each successive rose gold pearl.
- Tie a half hitch knot after the last pearl on this side. Place a dab of E6000 in this last knot to keep it secure. After the glue dries, trim the end of the ribbon close to the knot and dab some more glue on the end to keep it from fraying.
- Then work to the right, keeping your ribbon tension slightly loose, and tie a half hitch knot to the right of each successive rose gold pearl. All of the half hitch knots to the right should be tied in the same direction by bringing the ribbon down under the beads first.
- Tie a half hitch knot after the last pearl on this side. Place a dab of E6000 in this last knot to keep it secure. After the glue dries, trim the end of the ribbon close to the knot and dab some more glue on the end to keep it from fraying.
- Allow your glue to dry thoroughly before wearing.
