Modern Color Blocked Fringe Earrings

Note: Components and tools listed within this INSTRUCTIONS box and the printer-friendly PDF, if available, may have been discontinued since this project was published. Refer to the PURCHASE COMPONENTS and TOOLS AND OTHER SUPPLIES sections for current availability.

1. Begin by threading 56 inches of Wildfire thread onto a needle and place a stopper bead (please watch the video Quick Tip: How to Add a Stopper Bead) 8 inches from the end of the thread.
2. Following the provided pattern, flat even count peyote stitch (please watch the video How to Flat Even-Count Peyote Stitch) the rectangular top of the earring. Now work your thread up to the top of the earring and add the earring hook. The video How Attach an Earring Hook Directly to Bead Weaving will show you how to add your earring hook and which beads are needed. Tie off your thread when done and weave in your tail. Go back and remove the stopper bead and tie off that thread and weave in your tail.
3. After your top piece is done, you will add the fringe. To do so, thread 36 inches of Nymo thread onto your needle.
4. Follow the fringe pattern provided and add your fringe. Please watch the video How to Make Beaded Fringe. For additional tips on creating beaded fringe, please watch the video: Quick Tip: How to Make Beaded Fringe that Drapes Softly.
5. When your first earring is done, create the second the one following the same directions. You can choose which way you want to have the second earring face by choosing which direction to hang the earring hook.
