These instructions will give you a 6 inch bracelet. To adjust the length you will need to add an equal number of additional beads to each strand of cord. Cut a longer cord if you are adding more beads as well. Also make sure that both braids are equal in length for the knot to sit in the center of the bracelet.
- Before you begin please watch our video: How to Braid Beaded Kumihimo and Make a Bracelet. Now follow the instructions below to set up your disc.
- Cut 8 cords, 4 feet each, of the coral color. Gather all the ends and tie an overhand knot with all the strands. Take the gator weight and clamp it to the knot. Thread it down through the hole of the kumihimo disc. Place the cords on either side of the dots as shown in the video.
- Before you set up your beads, please see our quick tip video for how you can use Super New Glue to form a needle for easy stringing. Allow the glue to dry then add 72 matte red ab beads onto each strand.
- Wind your bobbins as seen in the video.
- Begin your braiding by starting with about 1 inch of braiding before adding the beads. Once you have braided all the beads, finish with 1 inch of braiding.
- Take the cords off of the disc and tie an overhand knot at the ends. You can now set this braid aside.
- Repeat the above process with the teal cord and turquoise beads.
- Once you have both braids, please watch our video: How to Make a Single Square Knot For Beaded Kumihimo.
- For the clasp, you will be "building up" the end braid with a scrap of cord. You can see a similar example of this at the end of this video here: How to Make the Deluxe Beaded Kumihimo Bracelet Kit. Separate the magnetic clasp before gluing the ends in.
- Build up the end with a piece of cord by winding it around the braided portion and tying an overhand knot. Trim the end to fit into the well of the clasp. Add a dab of glue and place into the well. You have two braid ends to glue into each side of the clasp so make sure that you are allowing enough space to fit in there.
- Please allow to dry unclasped and for at least 24 hours before wearing.
