Fall in Love with Reading Bookmarks
Who doesn't love a good book? Especially as it is winter and a lot of places are covered in thick blankets of snow, a warm drink and a good book is the perfect recipe for a chilly evening. If you are a book lover or have a friend who is, have you considered making your own bookmarks? They are fun to make, and you can personalize them to your liking with meaningful charms and favorite colors. They also make wonderful custom gifts where you can really think about what the recipient likes and make a bookmark just for them.
For this article, we are going to focus on a particular type of DIY bookmark. This type has a nice pre-made metal base with a top loop that you can then accent with chain, charms, beads, tassels, or anything else you want to personalize it with.
You will be starting with the base in the metal finish of your choosing. This is your foundation and what will rest inside the pages of your book.
From the little loop, you can directly hang a charm or tassel via a jump ring, or you can use that jump ring to connect one or multiple lengths of chain. Chain can usually be purchased by the foot, so you can purchase as much or as little as you need. Then from the ends of the chain, you can attach other embellishments like beads, charms, and tassels.
