Before you begin, measure the circumference of your wrist. I added half an inch to my wrist measurement for the finished measurement of my bracelet. You will need to know how long you'd like your bracelet to be as you work.
- Begin by cutting one 2' length and one 6' length of size 18 black Super-Lon nylon cord.
- Use a pair of chain nose pliers to open the jump ring and remove the lobster clasp that comes on one end of a 11 x 15mm silver plated Beadelle crystal oval pave magnetic clasp. Close the jump ring back up. Put the lobster clasp aside and keep it for another project.
- Separate the magnetic clasp. Slide your two lengths of nylon cord through the jump ring on one half of the clasp, bringing each one down towards you with the clasp in the middle of the string.
- Watch the video: How to Make a Shambhala Bracelet, Part I: Macrame Square Knots. Tie square knots onto your shorter center strings with the longer outer strings as shown in the video.
- Divide your finished bracelet measurement in half, then subtract 3/8" from that number. For example, my finished bracelet measurement was 7". So half of that is 3 1/2", minus 3/8" is 3 1/8".
- Continue your square knots until the half of the clasp and the knotting measures this number that you calculated.
- Slide a 13 x 18mm silver plated Beadelle crystal oval pave bead onto the two center strings. Bring the outer strings around to the end of the bead and continue your square knotting after the bead.
- Stop when your half a clasp and knotting measure 1/2" less than your finished bracelet measurement.
- Trim your inner strings 1" from the end of your knotting. Slide the jump ring on the second half of the clasp onto these strings. Carefully apply some Crafter's Pick glue onto the last 1/2" of these strings, and fold them back over onto the first 1/2". The ends should be just after the knotting and the clasp should rest where the strings are folded back. Press the strings firmly together and let the glue dry for at least an hour before moving on.
- When your glue is dry and the folded back strings are secured, continue with square knots all the way up to the jump ring on the clasp.
- Watch the video: How to Make a Shamballa Bracelet, Part II: Macrame Knot Finishing. Finish your knotting off as shown in the video, using Crafter's Pick glue instead of E6000 (it adheres to the nylon cord better). After your glue has set (wait at least an hour) trim your cord excess close to the glued knot. Apply a dab of glue to the trimmed ends.
- Allow your glue to dry thoroughly for at least 24 hours before wearing.
