Instructions

Note: Components and tools listed within this INSTRUCTIONS box and the printer-friendly PDF, if available, may have been discontinued since this project was published. Refer to the PURCHASE COMPONENTS and TOOLS AND OTHER SUPPLIES sections for current availability.

Note: Before beginning this project decide how long you want your bracelet to be, you will need to know this when you cut your chain. Between 7" - 8" is standard but you might want yours to be a little larger or smaller. Also, if you choose to cut your chain in the first step, please use household wire cutters and not good jewelry flush cutters. This is very strong chain.
  1. Begin by cutting your chain. This chain is very sturdy - I found it easier to open the links (they look like they are closed but they are actually open, it just takes some strength to open them) and separate them that way. If you want around a 7" bracelet, then measure and cut approx 6" of chain. Your clasp is going to add another 1.25". Set aside for now.
  2. Thread 5 feet of wildfire beading thread onto a size 10 needle. Now please view the video: How to do Circular Brick Stitch Bead Weaving Around a Bead.
  3. Following what you learned in the video, do circular brick stitch bead weaving around a 12mm Austrian crystal crystal round bead in jet black. Create the first two rows in Czech glass seed beads size 8/0 silver lined black diamond. Now Create 3 rows in Toho seed beads size 11/0 silver lined crystal.
  4. Next, please watch the video: How to Add a Decorative Beaded Edge to Bead Weaving. Following what you learned in the video, add a decorative edge to the above beaded round. Make the edge so that for each "picot" you string 1 Toho 11/0 seed bead in silver lined crystal, 1 Czech 8/0 seed bead silver lined black diamond, and then another Toho. Bead all the way around your outer edge until you end up back where you started. Tie off your thread.
  5. Open a 6mm black finish oval jump ring and thread it through one of the Czech glass seed beads in black diamond which make up your outer edge from the beaded focal above. Close the jump ring.
  6. Open a 7.7mm black finish jump ring and link it to the end chain links on one side of your cut chain. Link onto this same jump ring the oval jump ring from the previous step (with the beaded focal attached) as well as the loop at the base of the clock face portion of your toggle clasp. Close the jump ring.
  7. Open another 7.7mm black finish jump ring and attach it to the end links on the other side of your chain. Close the jump ring. Open and attach another jump ring to the one you just attached. Close this jump ring as well. Finally, open a third jump ring and attach it to the previously attached jump ring (you just made a little chain) and also link onto it the loop at the base of the bar portion of your toggle clasp. Close this jump ring.
  8. All Done! Enjoy!
