Instructions

Note: Components and tools listed within this INSTRUCTIONS box and the printer-friendly PDF, if available, may have been discontinued since this project was published. Refer to the PURCHASE COMPONENTS and TOOLS AND OTHER SUPPLIES sections for current availability.

This design will give you a finished necklace measuring approximately 16", with the bib hanging down 2.5".
  1. Begin by making all of your simple wire loops: Onto one eye pin place one crystal teardrop pearl, make a simple wire loop. You will do this for 4 powder almond pearls, 5 powder green pearls and 6 mauve pearls. Set aside.
  2. Cut 4 pieces of chain: one that is 16", one 5", one 6" and one 7".
  3. Take the 16" chain and find the center link. Move 4 links to the left of the center and attach one of the eye pins, the same way you would a jump ring, with a powder almond pearl on it. Note: For all the pearls, attach them with the large side of the tear drop facing down.
  4. Now move 8 links to the left of that and attach another almond pearl. Repeat these last two steps on the other side of the 16" chain. See photo.
  5. To one side of the outer pearl, count 14 links, open a jump ring, and attach the 5" chain. Close the jump ring. Sweep this chain to the other side of the other outer pearl. Count 14 links, open a jump ring, and close it around both chains.
  6. Find the center link of this chain and attach one eye pin with a green pearl on it to the center link.
  7. To the left side of the center pearl, count 10 links and attach one eye pin with a green pearl. Move 10 links to the left again and attach one eye pin with a green pearl. Repeat this process on the right side of the center green pearl.
  8. To link the bottom of the eye pins of the almond pearls to the chain with the green pearls, count 4 links from the right of where the center green pearl is attached. Attach the eye pin. Count 10 links to the right of that and attach the eye pin. Repeat on the other side.
  9. To attach the 6" chain, open one jump ring, count 3 links on the 5" chain (down from the jump ring that holds it to the 16" chain) and link this jump ring to that 3rd chain link as well as the end link on the 6" chain. Close the jump ring. Sweep this chain across and repeat this on the other side.
  10. Find the center point of the 6" chain and attach the bottom of the eye pin of the center green pearl. Move 10 links to the right and attach the next green pearl. Move 12 links to the right of that and attach the next green pearl. Repeat on the left side.
  11. To attach the mauve pearls, go back to the center green pearl. Count 4 links to the right and attach one eye pin with the mauve pearl on it. Count 12 links and attach another mauve pearl eye pin. Count 10 links and attach another mauve pearl eye pin. Repeat this one the left side.
  12. To attach the 7" chain, open one jump ring, count 3 links on the chain that is in between the green and the mauve pearls (counting down from the side jump ring). Use the jump ring to attach the end chain link of the 7" chain to that third link. Sweep this chain across and repeat this on the other side.
  13. Attach this chain to the bottom of the eye pins of the mauve pearls. Begin at the center of the chain, count 8 links to the right and attach a mauve pearl eye pin. Count 12 links to the right and attach a mauve pearl eye pin. Count 10 links to the right and attach a mauve pearl eye pin. Repeat on the other side.
  14. To the ends of the 16" chain, attach one jump ring to both sides and to one of those jump rings attach one lobster clasp.
