Retired - Southwest Scarab

1. Begin this project by creating your pendant. Cut 12 inches of 24 gauge wire and thread it through the hole at the top of your turquoise teardrop pendant. Pull the wire through so that you have 8 inches on one side and 4 inches on the other. Create a briolette wrap using the longer end of the wire to wrap around the top of your teardrop pendant. Keep wrapping so that you cover about 1/8 inch of the teardrop peak. Finish off your wrapping. When you finish, you should have a loop at the top.
2. Take a toothpick or small piece of wire and apply a generous amount of E6000 adhesive to the back side of your scarab. Try to get the glue into the hollow interior space of the scarab and along the flat portions but not in the areas which can be seen from the other side. Center your scarab onto of your teardrop pendant so that the head faces towards the loop you made in step 1. Press into place. If any glue seeps out around the edges, take a clean toothpick or piece of wire and gently scrape it off. Set aside to dry for several hours before handling.
3. Cut a 25 inch length of beading wire. Place a bead stopper on one end (leaving a 3 inch tail) and string the following:

5. 7 turquoise dyed jasper round beads
6. 1 inch of aquamarine gemstone chips
7. a turquoise dyed jasper round bead
8. 1 inch of aquamarine gemstone chips
9. a turquoise dyed jasper round bead
10. a silver plated embossed hexagon bead
11. a turquoise dyed jasper round bead
12. 1/2 inch of aquamarine gemstone chips
13. a turquoise dyed jasper round bead
14. 1/2 inch of aquamarine gemstone chips
15. a turquoise dyed jasper round bead
16. a silver plated embossed hexagon bead
17. a turquoise dyed jasper round bead
18. 1 inch of aquamarine gemstone chips
19. a turquoise dyed jasper round bead
20. a silver plated embossed hexagon bead
21. a turquoise dyed jasper round bead
22. 3 aquamarine gemstone chips
23. and the pendant you made in step 1
24. Start beading the second half your necklace making it a mirror image of the first, ending in a crimp bead.
25. Now thread one end of your beading wire through the ring that comes with your S-hook. Thread the wire back through your crimp bead and a couple of the beads next to it. Pull snug and crimp the crimp bead. Cut off excess beading wire. Apply a crimp cover on top of the crimped bead and squeeze gently into place.
26. Remove the bead stopper at the other end and attach the S-hook the same way you attached the ring in the previous step.
27. Enjoy your lovely new necklace!
