By following the instructions below, you will make one earring. Repeat all instructions to make the second earring. You will also need a paint brush and a clean work space for this project.
- Using your flush cutters, cut the following lengths of chain: 3/4", 1", 1.5". Set aside.
- Onto a head pin, slide on one antiqued brass flower bead cap, followed by an Amethyst Czech glass bead, another bead cap and the last link from one side of your 3/4 length of chain.
- Create a simple wire loop using your round nose pliers. Snip off any excess wire using your flush cutters.
- You will be repeating this process again. Take another head pin, slide on a bead cap, a Czech glass bead, a bead cap and the last link from one side of your 1" length of chain. Create a simple wire loop using your round nose pliers. Snip off any excess wire using your flush cutters.
- Next, watch the video on How to Use the Vintaj BIGKick Machine by Sizzix to Etch and Emboss Metal Stampings.
- Following what you learned in the video, carefully place your Vintaj DecoEtch Die in your Vintaj BIGKick Machine by Sizzix and emboss your Vintaj leaf stamping.
- Once you are satisfied with your embossed stamping, prepare a clean work space to begin painting your leaf stamping with patina.
- Using your paint brush, begin dabbing the surface of your Vintaj leaf stamping with your two Vintaj patinas. Try not to blend the two colors together, instead cover the stamping with the two colors in seperate areas. Wash your brush in between uses.
- While your stamping is still wet, use the side of your Vintaj Relief Block to sand the raised areas of your stamping to show off the detail.
- Wait a few minutes for your stamping to dry.
- Once your leaf stamping is dry, open up a 4mm jump ring with your chain nose pliers and slide it through the hole on your stamping.
- Also slide on the last link from your 1.5" length of chain and close.
- Now open your earring hook (how you would a jump ring) and slide on the last links from all three lengths of chain (the sides without the bead dangles and leaf stamping) and close.
- You're done!
