These instructions will make a 7 inch bracelet. To make a longer or shorter bracelet, adjust the number of beads strung before you begin crocheting the large section of rope. One inch of crocheted rope requires about 6 inches of strung beads, so plan accordingly as you string your beads onto the thread before crocheting.
- Begin by watching our video on how to do circular beaded crochet for righties. (If you are left handed, you can watch our video on how to do circular beaded crochet for lefties.)
- First, you'll make the larger of the two crocheted ropes in this bracelet. Based on the technique shown in the video, start by loading all of your beads onto your micro s-lon thread while it's still attached to the spool. String the beads in the following order: 4 inches of silver matubo beads, 10 inches of orchid seed beads, 4 inches of silver matubo beads, 10 inches of orchid seed beads, 4 inches of silver matubo beads. Do not cut the thread from the spool.
- Leaving an 8 inch tail at the beginning of the thread, create a slipknot and chain stitch your first 6 silver matubo beads. Then close the circle and begin to crochet your beads into a 6-around rope. You should have a crocheted rope that is 5 inches long when you're done. Cut the rope from the spool of s-lon, leaving another 8 inch tail on the end.
- Now you'll create the smaller crocheted rope. Take your spool of micro s-lon and string 6 inches of orchid seed beads onto the thread. Do not cut the thread from the spool.
- Leaving an 8 inch tail at the beginning of the thread, create a slipknot and chain stitch your first 6 seed beads. Then close the circle and begin to crochet your beads into a 6-around rope. You should have a crocheted rope that is 1 inch long when you're done. Cut the rope from the spool of s-lon, leaving another 8 inch tail on the end.
- Now you'll finish the ends of the larger rope. Thread a big eye needle onto one of your thread tails. String the loop of one silver eye pin and slide the eye pin down to your crocheted beadwork. Sew back down into your beadwork with the big eye needle, securing the eye pin and weaving the thread tail into your rope. Come back out the top of the rope and make a few more passes through the loop of the eye pin so it is fastened securely. Then continue weaving the tail into the crocheted rope. Once you have woven in about 4 inches of the tail, exit the rope with the big eye needle and cut off the excess thread with scissors.
- String 1 silver TierraCast bead cap onto the eye pin and slide it down so it cups the end of the crocheted rope. Using your pliers, make a simple wire loop with the eye pin and snip off the excess wire with flush cutters.
- Repeat steps 6-7 to finish the other side of the crocheted rope.
- Repeat steps 6-8 to finish both sides of the smaller crocheted rope.
- Open a jump ring. Slide it through the simple wire loop on one side of the large crocheted rope, then slide on the loop of 1 TierraCast dragonfly charm, and then slide it through the simple wire loop on one side of the small crocheted rope, connecting the two ropes. Close the jump ring.
- Open another jump ring. Slide on the simple wire loop on the other side of the large rope, and also slide on the loop of your clasp. Close the jump ring.
- Attach the lobster clasp to the simple wire loop on the other side of the small rope to close the bracelet. Enjoy!
