Kitty Kat Headband

1. Begin by cutting off 10 inches of 20 gauge wire. Find the center point of this wire and fold so that you have about a 45 degree angle to make the point of the ear.
2. Position this piece so that it measures 2.25 inches from the tip of the ear to where it touches the headband. Note that both sides of this piece of wire will be different lengths due to the curvature of the headband. So the inside length is 2.25 inches, but the outer length might be closer to 2.5 inches.
3. Once you have your wire positioned, wrap the ends of the wire around the headband frame four times, wrapping towards the outside of the ear. Be sure to end your wrap on top so that the tip of the wire will not poke your head as you wear it. Trim any excess wire. Do this for both sides of this wire. Make sure the wires are both wrapping the same way on the head band.
4. Next, cut off a 30 inch length of 26 gauge wire.
5. Start on the outer most wire and on the inside of that wire, in the area between the four wraps on the head band and where it starts to angle into the ear, wrap four times to anchor your wire here into that small nook.
6. Then work your way up the ears by wrapping three times. String on one black bead, lay it on the outer side of the ear frame, and wrap three more times and add another bead. You will continue this step, working your way up the ear and down to the other side. Keep your wrapping neat and tight.
7. Once you have come down the other side, finish with three wraps on the ear frame, then four wraps on the nook in between the ear and the head band 20 gauge wire wraps. Again be sure to have your tail on top of the headband before trimming any excess wire.
8. So that completes one ear. Move on to the second ear, making sure your wraps are going the same direction for an even result.
