Retired - J'adore Paris Steampunk

1. Since we will be using resin with this project, we are going to be making our resin pendant first so that it has sufficient time to dry. Begin by taking your Patera collage pendant and cutting your square Paris image to fit into it. Coat a layer of Nunn Glue on the back side and insert the image - press down on the image with your fingers to get out any air bubbles. Make sure you pay close attention to the sides and corners, you want this to be a tight bond. Take your solid 26mm gear at this same time and cut out the Eiffel tower round image that will fit on top of it. Coat the backside of the image with glue and center/press onto your gear. Once the glue is dry on both your gear and your pendant, using a paint brush, coat a layer of Nunn Sealant over the top of both. Let dry completely. 2. Once your glue has dried, using a toothpick or small piece of wire, apply a dab of E6000 glue on the backside of your gear with the image. Set down into the bottom right corner of your collage pendant setting and press into place. Next take a 16mm gear and place a dab of glue on one side of the gear. Turn it over and place ontop of the gear with the image at an off-center angle towards the upper left corner. See photo for placement of both these pieces. Let dry completely.
3. Mix your resin and fill your pendant. Do not over fill, just make sure all the gears are covered. If you are having trouble with the resin spreading into all the crevices, use your stirring stick to push the resin where you need it to go. After several minutes, remove air bubbles using a small torch. Let cure for 3 days.
4. Once your pendant is dry, take your remaining 16mm gear and place some E6000 on the back of it. Turn over and glue onto the top of your resin pendant. Place it in the bottom left corner, gluing directly onto the resin. Now take one of your Vintaj petal pinwheels, place E6000 glue on the underside and glue it on top of your resin pendant as well, just above the gear you glued with one of the pinwheel arms overlapping the gear. Set aside to dry. Once dry, attach a black 7.7mm jump ring to the loop at top, close the jump ring.
5. Take your other Vintaj pinwheel and put some E6000 glue on the back side. Glue it in the center of your 26mm gear with open holes. Let dry.
6. You will be using a larger and smaller chain to complete your necklace. Take your larger chain and cut the following lengths: 1 x 9", 1 x 3", 1 x 2.75" and 2 x 1". Attach a black finish 7.7mm jump ring to each end of each length of chain. On the two shortest chain lengths, on one end, just attach one jump ring to connect the two of them. On the other ends, connect a jump ring to each. For now, close all the jump rings to make it easier to work.
7. Cut two lengths of your smaller chain, each 2.75" long. Find the length of larger chain that is 2.75", open the jump ring at one end and insert the end chain link of each length of the smaller chains that you just cut. Close the jump ring again. On the other side of the chain, open that jump ring as well and insert the other end chain links of each of the smaller chain lengths. Before closing this jump ring, also thread it through one of the open holes of the large gear that you glued the Vintaj petal pinwheel onto earlier. Close the jump ring at this time.
8. Open a new jump ring (not attached to any chains). Onto that jump ring, put the jump ring at the non-gear end of the three chain strand you just made in the above step and also the jump ring which is attached to one end of your 9" chain length. Also put onto it the jump ring that is attached to your resin pendant. Before closing the jump ring, make sure that your pendant is facing the same direction as the Vintaj petal glued to your gear. Close the jump ring.
9. On the other end of the 9 inch chain length, open the jump ring and attach it to one end of your clasp. Close the jump ring.
10. Go back to the section of the necklace which has the gear and petal combo. Also find your two shortest lengths of chain which are attached at one end with a single jump ring. On the other side which has the two lengths separate but with jump rings, go ahead and open those jump rings and attach them to two of the open holes in the gear/petal combo. You should space them so that there is an empty open-work hole between them. On the other end that has the two chains attached by a single jump ring, open another jump ring (not attached to any chains) and attach the jump ring holding the chains together to an open-work hold on one side of your 19mm gear. Close the jump ring.
11. On the opposite side of the 19mm gear, open the jump ring attached to your remaining 3 inch length of chain and attach it to the gear. Close the jump ring.
12. On the opposite end of the chain you just attached, open the jump ring at the end and attach it to your remaining half clasp. Close the jump ring.
