Hi there. I'm Andrea, Beadaholique.com's senior designer. In this video I'm going to show you how to properly use a split ring. Slpit rings come in a variety of finishes and sizes just like regular jump rings. But unlike regular jump rings, the wire is doubled up like a key ring. This makes for a very secure connection. To open the split ring, we're going to use a pair of split ring pliers. You can also use your fingernail if you can get it in there but that's probably going to ruin you fingernail so today we're going to just use split ring plier. What you're going to do is you're going to the split ring plier so that the top notch is lined up with the two pieces of wire right in the center. You're going to close the plier and that opens the jump ring slightly. And you're going to thread it through whatever you want to add to the jump ring. So I'm going to thread it through the last link in this chain. At this point, you can remove the plier and just use your fingers to move the chain along until it is all the way on the split ring like that. Then we're going to add whatever other element. I'm going to attach one half of a toggle clasp. You're just going to repeat that. Open the split ring. Thread on your toggle. Remove the split ring plier and move it along until it is fully on the split ring. That's how you use split ring. Go to Beadaholique.com for all of your beading supply needs!
