This necklace just slips over the head and measures around 24 inches long. If you want, you have enough beads to make it longer. You can also easily modify the design to make it shorter and add a clasp.
- Begin by taking your ribbon and making a lark's head knot with it around your Nunn Design organic hoop. Try to make it in the center of the ribbon so that you have even length tails—however, you will not be using all your ribbon and if there is a particular area of the ribbon you like best (it has multiple colors), then you can center the knot there. Please just make sure to leave at least 10 to 12-inch tails on either side of your ribbon.
- Go to one end of your silk ribbon and slide a twisted rope jump ring onto it. Pull it down so that it is about 6 to 7 inches from the organic hoop. Please watch the video: How to Finish Silk Ribbon Ends with Wire. This video will show this necklace in it and you will be doing the fold over technique, not tying knots. It will also show how to trim the silk. Create your wire wraps according to the video instructions. Please also choose if you want messy wraps, smaller wraps, or neat and tidy wraps—it is entirely up to you. Create wire wraps (with jump rings inserted) on both sides of your organic hoop.
- Next, please cut a 4-inch piece of wire. Onto one end of it, create a wrapped wire loop. Slide on 1 small rondelle bead, 1 large rondelle bead, and 1 small rondelle bead onto the wire. Create another wrapped wire loop after the last bead. You can see how to do this in the video: How to Make Your Own Gemstone Chain with Wrapped Wire Loops. You will only be making the individual links at this stage, not connecting them together. Please make a total of 12 individual beaded links with wrapped wire loops on each side.
- Next, please cut a 2-inch piece of wire and create a simple wire loop on one end. You can see how to this in the video: How to Turn Scrap Pieces of Wire into Head Pins and Eye Pins for Jewelry Making. This video will show you how to make a simple wire loop on one end of the wire. Please then string on 3 seed beads and create a simple wire loop on the other side. Trim off excess wire. Make a total of 11 of these seed bead links.
- We are now going to connect our links together and make a beaded link chain. To do this, open a simple wire loop on a seed bead link (the same way you would open a jump ring) and connect it to one of the wrapped wire loops on one of the Czech bead links. Close the loop. Repeat this pattern, connecting all your links together in the following pattern: Czech bead link, seed bead link, Czech bead link, seed bead link, etc. You will start and end you chain with a Czech bead link.
- Open one of the twisted rope jump rings attached to your ribbon and slip on one of the wrapped wire loops on one end of your beaded link chain. Close the jump ring.
- Repeat the previous step on the other side of your necklace. Enjoy!
