This bracelet measures 7" long. To adjust the length, simply braid more or less. You will need some tape and some type of weight for this project. Instead of a gator weight, you can also create a weight using a binder clip and a dapping tool.
- Begin by unwinding your dark neon Chinese knotting cord from its card. I used the colors Mykonos Blue, Vivacious Purple and Acai Blue. I did not use the Emerald Green. These will be the 3 colors you use in your kumihimo bracelet.
- You will need eight 30" lengths of your Chinese knotting cord. With your scissors, cut three 30" lengths of cord in Vivacious Purple, two 30" lengths of Mykonos Blue cords and three 30" lengths of the Acai Blue cord.
- Take all of their tales and tie a simple overhand knot about 1 inch from the end, thread it through the middle of the disk, and attach a weight to the end.
- Next, onto one of your Mykonos Blue knotting cords, string on your tube of Miyuki delica square beads.
- Watch the video: How to Make a Simple 8-Warp Kumihimo Braid Bracelet. You will also want to see how to add beads to your braid and can do so in the video: How to Braid Beaded Kumihimo and Make a Bracelet.
- You will follow the same techniques as you learned in the video, just replacing the satin rattail cord with Chinese Knotting cord.
- Line up your cords on your Kumihimo disk so the ribbons are placed in this order: Vivacious Purple is to the left and Acai Blue is to the right of the 32, Vivacious Purple is to the left and Acai Blue is to the right of the 16. Mykonos Blue is to the left and Vivacious Purple is to the right of the 8 and Mykonos Blue is to the left and Acai Blue is to the right of the 24.
- Braid as long of a bracelet that you want (taking into account that the clasp will add an inch). I braided 7".
- Once you have finished braiding, take your weight off of the tail and clamp it over the strands that you just braided to hold them in place. Remove your braid and strands from the disk.
- Set aside your braid while you watch the video: How to Tie Off and Finish Kumihimo Braid Ends..
- Take your braid and measure the length that you want for your bracelet, starting at the knot. Based upon what you learned in the video above, place a piece of tape over the braid near the knot and then also at the interval on the braid that is the length you want for your bracelet. Finish off your ends now as seen in the video and attach your ribbon end caps with glue. Let dry.
- Open your 8mm jump ring and link it to one of the cord ends. Close the jump ring with your pliers.
- Next, open a 6mm jump ring and link it to the loop on your silver plated lobster clasp and also the loop on the cord end on the other side of your bracelet. Close the jump ring.
- Enjoy!
