Retired - Crocheted Bee Necklace

1. Begin by placing a big eye needle onto your silk thread. String on the following beads 10 cream beads, 10 green beads, 21 raspberry mauve beads, 10 green beads, and 10 cream beads. This will be all the beads that you will use for this project and you are prestringing them before you begin.
2. Please watch the video: How to Chain Stitch Crochet with Beads. Leave a tail of 12 inches before you start your first stitch. Chain stitch crochet 4 inches without beads, chain stitch a single stitch with a bead captured in it, chain stitch 1 stitch without a bead, then chain stitch a single stitch with a bead captured in it, chain stitch 1 stitch without a bead, etc. You want to repeat the previous pattern of alternating every other chain stitch to include a bead until you have chain stitched all your beads. After that, chain stitch another 4 inches without beads. Tie off your crochet and cut it off the spool, leaving a tail of 12 inches.
3. On the end you just finished, tie a knot over the area that you tied off the crochet. You are basically wanting a little thicker knot right there for your clamshell knot cover to rest on. Thread the end of the tail through the clamshell knot cover (if you need to, you can thread the silk end onto a big eye needle and then run the big eye needle through the hole in the clamshell knot cover.
4. Let the clamshell knot cover rest on the knot you tied and then use your pearl knotting tweezers to tie a knot that rests within the clamshell knot cover. Repeat with a second knot. Here is a video showing how to use these covers and how to do pearl knotting. Add a dab of GS Hypo Cement to your knot, close the cover, and then trim your tail once the glue is dry. With these particular covers you need to take your chain nose pliers and bend the little open loop closed. Just grab the side of the loop that is open and bend it towards the cover to close it.
5. Repeat the previous step on the other side of your necklace.
6. Open a jump ring and connect it to one side of your necklace as well as a lobster clasp. Close the jump ring. Open another jump ring and connect it to the other side of your necklace as well as another jump ring. Close the jump ring.
7. To attach your bee pendant, open a jump ring and link it onto the pendant. Close the jump ring. Open another jump ring and link through the 11th raspberry mauve bead on your necklace as well as the jump ring attached to your bee pendant. Close the jump ring.
