Beaded Lace Wrap Bracelet

PROJECT PROJ-JB-B0010
Designer: Julie Bean
Skill Level: Intermediate
This lovely bracelet is so versatile and can be worn casually or as a formal piece. It would even make a lovely bracelet for a bride or bridesmaids. The design is created using seed beads woven together to create an airy lacey look. As pictured, the bracelet wraps around the wrist twice, but you can make it however long you wish with as many wraps as you desire.
Instructions

Note: Components and tools listed within this INSTRUCTIONS box and the printer-friendly PDF, if available, may have been discontinued since this project was published. Refer to the PURCHASE COMPONENTS and TOOLS AND OTHER SUPPLIES sections for current availability.

From the instructions below, you can choose to make a bracelet that is a single wrap, double wrap, triple wrap, etc. It's enirely up to you and you will have enough supplies for many wraps. The sample pictured is a double wrap bracelet and when laid flat, the beading is just over 13 inches.
  1. Start by cutting 60 inches of thread and placing it on your needle. You will need more than this but this is a good length to start with. You will need to add more thread as you go.
  2. Please watch the video: How to Right Angle Weave. Right angle weave a row of rose gold seed beads that is as long as you want your wrap bracelet to be. Tip: Wrap it around your wrist when you think it's long enough to double check the length.
  3. Next, right angle weave a second row (on top of the first) with the milky white beads. When you need to add more thread, please watch the video: How to Tie Off and Add New Thread in Right Angle Weave.
  4. Once you have finished your weaving, you will need to add the clasp. Please look at the photo of the clasp and note that it is just stitched on the ends between the two rows of weave. You will run your needle through the middle seed bead so that it exits the gap between the two rows, run your needle through the loop part of the clasp, and then back down through the same seed bead you exited. Work your needle through your beadwork now and go back through the clasp loop at least 2 more times. This will securely anchor the clasp. Tie off and trim your thread.
  5. Cut a new piece of thread that is 20 inches long and place it on your needle. Now go to the side of the bracelet without the clasp part attached. Work your needle and thread into your beadwork so that it is exiting the same bead area as the other side of the bracelet. Attach your clasp in the same manner. Work your thread into your beadwork and tie off.
  6. Go back through your beadwork and tie off and trim all your tails/ends. I recommend making knots in at least 3 places for each tie off—this is a bracelet so it will get more wear then a necklace or earrings so it's good to reinforce your tie-offs.

Please don’t speed up!

Your voice and initial speed of demonstration was very well presented. Unfortunately you chose to speed up at the hardest part. Trying to determine when to use one or two or three beads when adding rows is confusing to learn. Also, knowing which bead to ultimately exit from to start another unit is difficult, especially when adding a new row. Personally, I have finally become comfortable with RAW and it’s variations but if I wasn’t this video would not inspire me to continue.
