Remember to double these instructions to make your matched pair of earrings.
- Using a toothpick or small piece of wire, spread a layer of E6000 glue on the flat underside of your 13mm round jet black cabochon. Flip over and place onto your Lacy's Stiff Stuff. Place near the edge but make sure your leave at least a 3/4" border of Lacy's Stiff Stuff all the way around the cabochon. Press into place, make sure no glue spills out from beneath the cabochon, and let dry for at least an hour.
- Trim your cabochon out of the Lacy's Stiff Stuff, again making sure to leave yourself at least a 3/4"border.
- Thread your size 12 beading needle with 7 feet of KO black thread.
- Please watch the video: How to Backstitch in Bead Embroidery. Following what you learned in the video, backstitch a row of 11/0 Toho gold luster amethyst seed beads right up against the black cabochon. After you complete this row, backstitch a row of 11/0 Miyuki Delica metallic bronze beads and another row of 11/0 Toho gold luster amethyst seed beads. Tie off your threads.
- Thread your size 12 beading needle with 3 feet of KO black thread.
- Now please watch the video: How to Create a Bezel Row in Bead Embroidery. Following what you learned in this video, stitch a bezel row using 15/0 Toho Metallic Iris Green/Brown beads between the black cabochon and the first row of gold luster amethyst beads. Tie off your thread.
- Trim your Lacy's Stiff Stuff foundation right up to the edge of the last row of beads (make sure to not cut their threads). Spread a layer of Crafters Pick Glue on the underside, directly over your threads. Flip over and press on top of your brown ultra suede backing. Let dry and then trim the backing. There is a video which shows how to do this entire step: Bead Embroidery: How to Trim the Foundation and Attach the Backing.
- Thread your size 12 beading needle with 4 feet of KO black thread.
- Please watch the video: How to Bead Embroider a Picot Edge. Using the skills you learned in the video, bead embroider a picot edge so that the base of the edge is using 11/0 Miyuki Delica metallic bronze beads and the tips of the edge are using 15/0 Toho opaque jet black beads. Bead embroider all the way around the edge so that you are stitching the backing to the foundation and creating a finished look. Tie off your thread.
- Open a 4mm jump ring and link it through one of the gaps in your picot edge, just thread it under the thread bridge and then close the jump ring back up. Open another 4mm jump ring and link it to the one you just previous placed as well as the loop at the base of your earring hook. Close the jump ring back up.
- All done!
