Vintage Pumpkin Earrings (Reboot)

PROJECT E2087
Designer: Kat Silvia
Skill Level: Intermediate
These pumpkin earrings have a wonderful vintage style thanks to the antiqued brass findings and the beautifully faceted Czech glass fire polished beads.
Reboot: We have brought back this popular project by replacing the discontinued beadcaps with a lovely openwork design with prongs that look like leaves. A more dramatic earring hook has also been substituted in.
Instructions

Note: Components and tools listed within this INSTRUCTIONS box and the printer-friendly PDF, if available, may have been discontinued since this project was published. Refer to the PURCHASE COMPONENTS and TOOLS AND OTHER SUPPLIES sections for current availability.

By following the instructions below, you will make one earring. Repeat all instructions to make the second earring. You may also find it helpful to watch our video: How to Make Petite Pumpkin Earrings. The technique shown in the video is very similar to what you will do for this project.
  1. Thread on one fire polish bead, and one bead cap facing down to a headpin. Make a wrapped wire loop and trim the excess wire.
  2. Take one head pin and cut off the end with the head on it.
  3. Wrap the center of the headpin around the wrapped wire loop, leaving the two ends out to the side.
  4. Take your round nose pliers and make a coil with each end of the headpin wire by wrapping it in towards the center.
  5. Open the loop of the earring finding, the same way you would a jump ring. Attach the wrapped wire loop to the earring finding and close the loop.
  6. All done!

cute and easy!

These are so cute! And such a simple design. You can change it up in so many ways by using different color wire, different beads, and different beadcaps (or no beadcaps!). Love it!
