The product information did not state that these pliers are 4.5 long, they are slightly smaller than standard size. They do fit okay in my hand but the handle ends a quarter way past my pinky finger and I think that a larger size would be more comfortable to hold. The quality is what you would expect from The BeadSmith brand, the joints all are very smooth and I like that the round nose and chain nose have very narrow tips, to get into tight spots. The wire cutter is not a flush cut, which is disappointing. The handles are smooth plastic and not slip-resistant. Compared to the Zebra pliers set, I prefer the zebra handles better -- those have slip-resistant handles, giving me a better grip, and they are 5 long. However, I like that everything conveniently comes in one case, including the bead scooper, crimping pliers, and nylon jaw pliers. I use varied techniques and don't always plan ahead, so I don't always know whether I'll need these particular tools, apart from the usual round nose and chain nose. This is a good set for travelling or bringing to workshops, but I don't think it will be my everyday set.

This kit is Fantastic, it has stuff in it I never knew I needed and now cant live without. The pliers are still true after a year of abuse and the cutters are still sharp. The fine tip tweezers are great as tweezers and as a general fine tip tool. The split ring pliers are a huge plus for me, I used to struggle trying to open my split rings with a blade or screwdriver. The scooper can be used to clean up beads, but I find myself using it to get just the right amount out of my findings baggies instead of just dumping them all over my bench.
