Hi, this is Kat with beadaholique.com boxing these are two projects that I made using the endless loom and the idea with this particular loom is that you start with your clasp portion first and then you work your way around so you're just bringing those two ends together so it's really neat and I'm going to show you how to do a full bracelet in this video but let's go ahead and take it out so it comes in a really nice carrying case like this and you'll also get a nice little instruction booklet that will show you and it will kind of walk you through exactly what I'm going to be doing today so let me just set that aside so when you get your loom it will come with these little dowels and this is actually the loom here so I'm just going to go ahead and take these two pieces out so this is what you're going to be putting those dowels into and setting up your loom now we have three sizes of tension rods down here at the bottom you can kind of see they're all nicely labeled for you so you'll get to choose the tension rod and we'll go over that in just a few minutes and then these are the spacer bars so we have some that are two inches for a seven inch bracelet and so on and so forth and with this particular loom you can make a loom bracelet that is up to nine inches and three and a half inches wide so in case you're wondering how to modify this for your particular design or project that is the largest size that you can make on this endless loom so I'm going to try to make a seven inch bracelet so I'm going to take out the two the two dowels here and they say two inch length four seven inch bracelet so those are the two that I'm going to be using and then we're all are going to be using some rubber bands and go ahead and take out a few nice and colorful and I'm going to set that aside and let me first start by showing you how to assemble the loom so you're just going to take these little dowels and put one on each side of your endless loom here and now take one of the rubber bands and you're going to set it up so it goes over the doll and you're going to do the same on the other side so that it sits in the center there so this is the first part and now you're going to take that second dowel or I'm sorry that second piece of the loom and put that over and make sure that it's nice and snug and nice and even and now you're going to take one rubber band and put it around the two knobs at the end and you're just going to repeat that on the other side so this is the setup for your loom now I went over very briefly the idea of the tension rods and in the two examples I have here these are using 6o Czech glass seed beads and this version is using ten Oh me Yuki delicas now of course you can see how different they are and the idea is that you're going to want to keep the tension to be about the same size of your beads and you sort of switch them out as you move around so to start I'm going to be doing a variation on the 6-0 Czech seed beads and that's what I have here just have a nice big beautiful blue mix so I'm going to start by taking one of the quarter inch tension rods and you just slip it underneath those two rubber bands so there is my loom so my loom is all set to go so I'm actually just going to move this out of the way for just a moment and I'm going to move my loom out of the way as well set those aside so like I was saying you start by doing the clasp portion of your bracelet so that's what we're going to do so I'm going to be using size twelve beading needles and I have size D Nimmo thread and I just chose a nice blue I think it'll go nicely with my blue mix here now you don't need a super long piece of thread to do this first part and let me just thread my needle and if you'd like you can use a thread conditioner at this point or you can use it later or not at all it's entirely up to you alright so I have my needle thread with just a little bit of a tail on this side so what I'm going to do first is I'm going to pick up five beads four and five so I have five beads I'm going to slide them down and you can either hold hold your work or you can use a handy little bead stopper at the end there just to keep that nice and tight for you and now what we're going to do is we are going to do a square stitch so holding my work I'm going to pick up one bead I'm going to go back through that last bead that I just strung on until it sits there we go until it sits on top and now I'm going to go back through that last bead and if you're unfamiliar with square stitch I know I'm doing a little quick version here we have a full video showing you how to do square stitch if you want to practice that so again I'm going to pick up one bead I'm going to go down through the second bead and back through and I'm just sort of tightening up my work as I go because I want it to sit nice nice and pretty alright and just continue all the way to the end of this row okay and one more here I'm just going to go down through that last bead and up through all right now I can remove my little bead stopper here and just set that aside so this is the work that I have right now so what I'm going to do is I'm going to reinforce this because my beads are large enough that I can make several thread passes through without disrupting the bead so that's what I'm going to do edge because I just want to tighten up my work if you are using smaller beads you may not be able to do this particular step of going through several times so I'm just going to take my needle and I'm going to go all the way through that bottom row and up we go making sure it stays nice and tight and now what I'm going to do is I'm going to go into that first bead and come up in between that first and second bead and what I'm going to do now is I'm going to take my tube clasp and I'm going to pick up oops my work I've flipped there we go I'm going to pick up one bead slide that all the way down I'm going to go back through one side of the tube clasp and back down into that bead and I'm going to make a little bridge and I'm going to go down into that third bead like so creating a nice little hold on that clasp and now I'm just going to repeat that for this next bead right here okay and let me just put my work down so you can see I'm going to choose another bead and again you can choose whichever colors you want if you're doing a mix or a pattern it's entirely up to you same thing going up through that hoop on the clasp back down through that seed bead and I'm coming out that fifth bead in that top row and now I'm just going to go through that entire bottom row again and I'm going to follow that thread path one more time just to secure my clasp so down through up through that bead and I'm going to catch that loop all in one step because they're a little closer now go back through and down into the next bead and I'm going to come up and through the hoop as well and going forward and back down through that last bead so this is the first part of the clasp and now all I'm going to do is tie off these two ends and you can do that just by going through one of the beads there and I'm going to do this really quickly just so we can move on just catching a couple of those thread bridges and making a nice little knot and going through the next couple of beads just right there and I'll do one more a little knot just for security go and there there we go there's just got to get my needle in there all right I'm going to just take my needle off of that side and I'm going to trim it and set that thread aside and now I'm just going to take the other tail and I've just flipped around my work just because I'm right-handed so sometimes it makes it easier for me to work this way take it in my needle there and I'm just going to go through and just tie off same as before I'm actually going to go down into this bead right here oops and that should be nice and secure now all right take my needle off and snip so there is the first side of your clasp so before you do the next side of your class you're going to want to take your loom and you're going to pre measure out the amount of thread needed for your warp threads so let me just take some of this off and I'm actually going to condition the thread right now because I want it to sort of start to get nice and uncoiled so all I'm doing is I'm just running the thread over this sort of conditioning wax and it helps the thread also not tangle but get nice and sort of sort of uh-huh not as coiled okay so when I talk about measuring the thread what I'm talking about is using a length of thread to go around the endless loom for the amount of warp threads that you're going to need now you count your work threads by the number of beads and you add one because the warps are going to go one two three four five and six if you're using five beads so what I need to do is I need to go around six times three four five and six so that's six and it's a nice good long tail so I'm going to cut my thread there because you actually want let me just get it off there you actually want it to be able to sort of go around that one extra time that way you'll have enough to do the starter piece so now I'm going to thread my size twelve beading needle one more time go and slide that down and I'm just going to repeat exactly what I did on this other side right here so pick up those five beads and slide those down and I'm just going to add that little bead stopper there so I'm going to do the second side and I will meet you back to show how to finish it off just make sure to not trim your thread tails okay so this is my starter piece now and I have my thread coming out of this side and what I'm going to do is we're ready to start the loom now so I'm going to take this piece and place it onto the loom here and just kind of hold it with my fingers because of what I'm going to do is I'm going to now take this piece wrap it all the way down and around so it's coming up and I'm going to go through this first bead with my needle making that first warp thread now this might take just a little finagling because it's your first one so just go ahead and pull that till it's nice and flush and now I'm just going to repeat that and I'm going to take that thread and I'm going to go back down and around place my loom down and I have my needle in my right hand and what I need to do now is go through that second bead just like so to create that next warp thread and just make sure they are staying separated there we go okay and now you're just going to keep repeating by going down and around and now through that next bead to make that next warp thread and don't worry too much about your threads getting tangled for right now you'll be able to go back and kind of readjust them and just repeat going through that next bead and one more time and this is your last one so I'll just go back and down and around and now before you go through what you're going to want to do is kind of adjust those threads if they need adjusting you can see I have a couple that have crossed over and I'm just going to kind of smooth them out a little bit just make sure that they're getting nice and even in good tension it's kind of like tying a shoelace where you just need to go back through and just check and make sure that everything is nice and good tension all right so I'm going to go back down and now I'm going to take this needle and I'm going to go through all five beads on that bottom row make sure that you hit all five of them without poking yourself so sorry audience but if you're a beater you know that sometimes that happens all right so now I'm just pulling my thread all the way through for that last time so now you can see I'm just sort of adjusting making sure that we are all good to go all right so now I'm going to rotate my beadwork just a little bit away from me and I'm ready to start picking up my beads so just pick up however many beads are in your row for me it's going to be five and I'm just going to place them below push them up through take my needle across and now you're looming just like any other loom and push your needle all the way back across now you'll notice that my tail here is rather short so I am going to need to tie off and add new thread but I do suggest that trying to get a few rows in before you do that just it helps sort of secure your thread so I'm going to start moving a little bit quickly just to get these first few rows in here alright so what I'm going to do now is I'm just going to rotate my work and this is where the endless loom part comes in so I have really tight tension on my piece so you can just rotate the dowel up and over and you can see that it loosens up that piece for you to rotate and then just move it back to have that really good tension again so now if I want to tie off and add new thread it's the same as with any other loom actually I'm going to just go ahead and without picking up another row I'm going to show you really quick you just go back through maybe your last bead from the previous row again same as before just catching one of those threads with your needle and make a nice little knot and move on and you see how I'm tying it off here it's the same way that you'll start that new thread there we go and at the side alright so I'm going to add some new thread and then I will be back to show you another little tip while using the endless loom okay so I'm getting a little bit further along in my piece and the tension from this dowel rod is just a bit too much so what I'm going to do is I'm going to actually exchange it for one of these smaller dowels so I'm just going to repeat and just kind of slip it underneath those little rubber bands and now I'm going to pull it up and over and that's a good tension that I want because as you're rotating your piece you don't want it to be too tight so that it feels like it's just it's really really pulling and I do want to make another note so sticking with the size twelve beading needle because my work isn't very long however if you're doing or I'm sorry wide however if you are doing a wider piece we recommend that you switch to the loom needle so that'll get all the way across with your beads and you can actually do this if you're working with a smaller piece as well but just sort of a little tip you can use an actual loom work needle if that is your preference so I'm just going to keep working and as we get a little bit closer to the end I'm going to come back and show you how to finish it off so I'll see you back here in just a few minutes okay so I'm just picking up what I think is going to be possibly my last row here and you can see that there's still a nice sizable gap there but what I'm going to do is I'm going to finish this row and just go back through and before I tie off my thread before I tie off my thread they recommend that you remove it from the loom so either unclasp or you can slide it off one side and let it sit so now you can see actually that the beads are actually quite tight up against each other so I'm going to let this sit and they recommend letting it sit for about an hour to let that tension kind of just come back together and they do give you some solutions if your beads are too tight or too far apart and the long and short of it is that if they're too tight before you tie off your thread you're just going to go and you're going to take out that row of beads and if they're too loose you can add a row at this point so I'm going to let this sit for about an hour and I'm going to come back and show you what I have to work with at that point so I've let my loom piece hang out for just a little while and I'm pretty happy with it it seems to be nice and in order and when I go to class but it's nice and flush all the way around so no big bubs and no I'm afraid that if I did want to take out a row it would be too loose so just very simply I'm just going to finish it up by going into my second row here and just tying off my thread very simply just as we did earlier I'm just going to do a couple nuts just because the last little bit of the thread there we go I'm going to go all the way through and just to connect that last row there just going to go down one more and tie that knot so there you are that is how to use the endless loom you can have a lot of fun with various different projects and definitely experiment with different kinds of beads I highly recommend using this it's great for traveling especially if you want something that's nice and compact and it comes with this really great little package as well so that is how to make a bracelet using the endless loom you can
