October's Birthstones: Opal and Tourmaline

October is synonymous with many things such as pumpkins, colorful leaves, and Halloween. There is so much happening in October that its birthstones can quickly get overlooked, which is a shame because they are such pretty and unique stones! And yes, I said "stones" as in plural. October has two beautiful birthstones: Opal and Tourmaline.

Opal is the traditional birthstone for October, and some consider tourmaline to be the modern birthstone. Opal represents good luck, hope, protection and balance. Tourmaline is said to represent healing, reconciliation, compassion, and serenity.
