Julie’s Top 10 New Products of 2023 (so far)
It’s not the end of the year yet (although it will be before we know it!) but I have already found some of my favorite new products at Beadaholique this year. Below are my favorites!
Toho RE:Glass Seed Beads: I wanted to pick just one bead but I really love all the matte beads in this collection. Since I just returned from spending almost 2 years in Portugal, during which time a family pastime was searching for sea glass on the beaches, I have fallen in love with these little beads. The brown, blue, and green matte beads really do look like sea glass!
PRESTIGE Crystal Fancy Stone Red Cat. I created a bead embroidered brooch out of this little kitty. The slightly curved back was really easy to accommodate and the colors really shined through in this design. His playfulness endeared him to me.
Hand-Dyed Habotai Silk Ribbon in Rose Pink/Yellow Blend. I used this color in a bracelet project and it was just so yummy! I felt like I could stare at the pretty colors for hours.
Reina Pendant Link by TierraCast. This small little connector is so handy! It’s a nice compact size at 10mm x 20mm including the loops. It can easily be used in necklaces or drop earrings. There is also a post earring in this same style that is lovely.
TeaCup Beads – I have found so many uses for TeaCup beads. They are definitely one of my favorite new shapes in ages. I especially love the Milky Amethyst color.
PRESTIGE Crystal Iridescent Dark Turquoise Pearl in 4mm size. I LOVE PRESTIGE Crystal pearls. They are so nice and easy to work with. This color in particularly very vibrant and really makes designs pop: 4mm is my favorite go-to size.
Gardanne Beads. I love everything from this group! These enameled brass pieces can easily be the focal of any design. Just like the silk ribbons, it’s really the lush colors that grab you with these pieces. I like turning the bead caps into cord ends as I did in the Colorful Garden Kumihimo Bracelet.
Czech Glass Bead Recipe Box in After Dinner Mint. Here is another case of using an item and falling in love with it. So many pretty beads are in this little box and it was a fun challenge to create a bunch of different designs with them.
Sweet and Petite Enamel Santa Charm. I have to say that I have not used this little guy yet but he is on my wishlist! He’s just too adorable not to be made into a pair of earrings. I want to find a way to make it so he’s coming out of a chimney…
Preciosa 6/0 Color Palette in Ocean Breeze. This is such a good bargain (and I love a good deal). So many pretty beads and you can cover a lot of ground with the 6/0 size. I think these are great for strung necklaces and memory wire bracelets.
Favorite Project and Video
My favorite project for the year has to be the Garden Party Bracelet using SuperDuo beads. The design just came together so easily and I really like the final look. It could also be made into a pretty necklace.
My favorite video is a recent one that I made. It’s How to Make 6 Pieces of Jewelry from 1 Strand of Gemstone Beads. This was a fun challenge video for me and I loved trying to think of different designs you could make from the same bead and shared findings.
