Designer Julie Bean's Favorite Things for Beading and DIY Jewelry

I have had a wonderful 14 years making jewelry at Beadaholique. During that time, I have definitely discovered some favorite things on the website. These are things that I tend to buy for myself and use in my own creations. Through Beadaholique I discovered Nunn Design and Raven's Journey. I also learned all about Miyuki Delicas and wonderful things like tri-cut seed beads and SuperDuos.

Here are some of my very, very favorite things:

Favorite Tool: Wire Looping Pliers!

If you have watched some of my live beading classes you know this is my favorite tool. I use it all the time to make wrapped wire loops and simple wire loops. I actually no longer use a round nose plier at all.

Favorite Seed Bead: Toho Round Seed Beads 11/0 1703 'Gilded Marble Turquoise' 8 Gram Tube

There is something so alluring and vintage looking about this particular seed bead. The marbled coating adds just that extra something special to a design whenever you use it.

Over the last few years, I have really come to adore these mighty little beads. They are small, just 2mm x 3mm but they have fantastic sparkle and are not your usual round shape which makes them very interesting.

For someone like me who loves the Art Nouveau design style, you can't get much better than this gorgeous button. I have a future project planned where I remove the shank and bead embroider around it. I actually want to embroider around two of them and have them on either side of a long, flapper style necklace.

Here's a chain that never fails. I have used it in both necklaces and earrings and it always drapes beautifully and looks polished.

I recently used this toggle in a bracelet project and I really fell in love with all the details on it.

It was hard to choose my favorite earring hook, but this little clef design is one that I always come back to. It is not too big yet not too small and I like that it's unusual compared to a lot of hooks. To me, it is very elegant!

Favorite Project #1 (there is a tie): Starburst SuperDuo Bracelet in Blue & Teal
This is a newer project, and I just pleased as punch on how it turned out!

Favorite Project #2: Lilly's Brooch
This is a much older project featuring bead embroidery around a cabochon and set upon a filigree. I named it after my grandmother Lilly because it reminded me of her.

It's been a lot of fun to put together this post. I hope you enjoyed - you can see more of my favorite things on Instagram @julieannebean!
