I will keep them in their original containers so I don’t forget exactly what they are. However, if it’s a bag of bead soup, I will separate the beads completely and store in mini zip lock bags and place in the same storage container with similar size and shape of bead. It can be a lot of work at first but I feel like it’s a treasure hunt to see what you have. Then when you are ready to do a project you know exactly how much you have to work with.

I store my beads in little plastic boxes (the boxes were a great dollar store find).

I tend to still keep left over needs separate or in original containers. My kitties have not “helped” me yet to make bead soup, but I know there will come the day that it will happen.

    Cindy - December 12, 2024

I store my project remainders in clear tubes and mini clear bags.
The left-overs are sorted by color in a multi drawer shop bin/organizer.

Mine are in a giant pickle jar

I’m a fairly new beader, so I don’t have too many extras but the smaller ones, I use a small canning jar. For larger and focal beads, I’ve got a few strands of the left overs draping on my craft wall so they are in plain view for inspiration.

If it is a good quantity, I store them in mason jars. I also have 7 sets of the little parts drawers hanging on the wall.

I try to break down beads by general color. That way I can easily put together anything.

    Jamie Spires - December 12, 2024

I use little tic-tac like boxes to sort my beads and put a label on each one so I know what each is. I try to put where I got the beads from so I can get more if possible, or I stick the original label from the store on it.

    Anne Dumais - December 12, 2024

I buy small zip lock plastic bags and separate the beads by colors and type. A big time saver later!
