I did some "faux enameling" on this pendant with nail polish. In addition to the materials and tools listed from Beadaholique, you will need some nail polish to achieve the look pictured here. Make sure to select seed beads that match the colors of your nail polish.
- Select shades of your favorite nail polish for the daisy, flowers, and leaves on a Vintaj Natural Brass abstract daisy window pendant.
- On a piece of scratch paper, put down a large drop of your flower color to work from. Use a toothpick to carefully fill in the flower outlines with nail polish. A thinner layer will dry darker, and the metal underneath will show through more. A thicker layer will dry more opaque and colorful.
- Repeat this process with the other colors to fill in the daisy and the leaves.
- Allow to dry thoroughly overnight before continuing.
- Cut two 9" lengths of Vintaj Natural Brass 7x4.4mm flat oval chain. Open the last link on each length of chain with a pair of chain nose pliers and insert the hanging loop from your pendant piece. Close the links on the chain.
- Cut a piece of .015" bronze beading wire about 2' long.
- Use an antique brass plated micro crimp bead to secure one end of the beading wire to the last link on one end of the chain using a crimp tool. Trim the short tail of beading wire close to the crimp bead.
- String dark green 13/0 Czech charlotte seed beads along most of the strand, leaving the last few inches open.
- Thread the strand of beads through the chain, going through every few links, all the way to the other end. If you need to add more seed beads to reach the end do so, otherwise, remove any extra beads at the end of the chain.
- Make sure that the beads are strung through without bunching up the chain much, and then use a second crimp bead to secure the other end of the beading wire to the last link on the other end of the chain.
- Trim off the excess beading wire close to the crimp bead.
- Use a 4.75mm, 19 gauge Vintaj Natural Brass jump ring to hang a Vintaj Natural Brass Sparrow Bird Charm a few inches to the right above the window pendant on the chain.
- Open the small loop on the spiral half of a Vintaj Natural Brass wire spiral hook and eye clasp and attach it to one end of your chain. Open the ring half of the clasp and attach it to the other end of the chain.
