Retired - Names All Around Unisex Necklace

PROJECT N849
Designer: Julie Bean
Skill Level: Intermediate
This metal stamped necklace has four sides that you can stamp names, dates, places, or anything else you like on. For the design pictured I chose the names of kids, but you can truly customize any way you want. This is a great beginner metal stamping project.
Instructions

Note: Components and tools listed within this INSTRUCTIONS box and the printer-friendly PDF, if available, may have been discontinued since this project was published. Refer to the PURCHASE COMPONENTS and TOOLS AND OTHER SUPPLIES sections for current availability.

Note: The bar pendant featured in this design comes as a pack of 4, a great value and also perfect for a beginner who might need to practice with stamping.
  1. Begin this project by watching the video: How to Make a Metal Stamped Cuff Bracelet with ImpressArt Tools. The video does not show this project but it does show you how to use a stamp guide bracelet sticker, how to metal punch, and how to make your punches stand out by filling them in with the stamp enamel marker.
  2. Decide on what you want to stamp on each side of the bar pendant. Depending on your spacing, you can comfortably get between 7 and 14 letters max - 7 letters if you space them every other notch on the bracelet guide tape and 14 if you space them closer, using every guide notch to place a letter.
  3. Place your sticker on one side of your pendant. You want to line it up close to bottom edge, about 1/16th of an inch from it. This placement should result in your words being centered on the pendant side.
  4. Write your letters on your sticker as shown in the video you watched before starting this project. Do your stamping for this side of the pendant. When it is done, rotate your pendant and repeat this step. Keep doing this until all four sides are stamped.
  5. Next, on one side, fill in your letters with the stamp enamel marker. Wait a minute or so and then wipe off excess ink with a paper towel. Rotate the pendant and repeat this step on another side. Continue to do this until the impressions on all sides have been filled in with marker.
  6. Open the ball chain via the little peanut clasp. Slide the non-clasp side of the chain through the hole in the pendant. Close the clasp.
  7. All done, enjoy!
