Note: Components and tools listed within this INSTRUCTIONS box and the printer-friendly PDF, if available, may have been discontinued since this project was published. Refer to the PURCHASE COMPONENTS and TOOLS AND OTHER SUPPLIES sections for current availability.

NOTE: In addition to the ingredients listed above, you are going to need the following items before you begin: store bought molded plastic bangle bracelet (whatever style you like). The one pictured has facets which look great when poured in resin. The process we are going to use will pick up details on finely detailed jewelry, so feel free to use a detailed bracelet. You will also need some type of disposable plastic container with lid, such as a deli soup or large yogurt container (make sure it is big enough for your bracelet to fit inside). In addition you will need some plastic to cover your work station with, an razor blade or pair of sharp scissors to cut away the container, some polymer clay or hot glue gun with glue sticks, dust mask, several cups of uncooked rice, and some disposable gloves.
  1. To begin this project, watch our video on how to make a block mold using Easy Cast Silicone Rubber. Following the directions in the video, put on a pair of disposable gloves and make your block mold. Let it fully cure for 24 hours.
  2. After you have waited 24 hours, please watch the video on how to make a bangle bracelet using a block mold. This video will show you how to measure exactly how much resin you will need, it will also show you how to mix the resin and add the black pigment to it. Once you have watched the video and mixed your resin (make sure all the striations are gone), gently peel one side of your mold back (as shown in the video) and slowly pour a thin stream of resin into your mold. Keep a steady stream of resin and let it evenly disperse on its own within the mold. Fill to the top of the mold.
  3. Let your resin cure for 3 days.
  4. After 3 days, remove your bangle from the mold. You will most likely need to sand down the rough edge. Do this with a diamond file. If you have a rotary sander such as that on the end of a dremel tool, you can use this as well. Take precaution and use a dust mask while sanding resin. Keep sanding until you have a nice smooth edge which matches the other side of your bracelet.
