A variegated blue kumihimo braid frames an Austrian crystal beaded focal in this wintery statement earring.

Instructions

By following the instructions below, you will make one earring. Repeat all instructions to make the second earring. To complete this project, you will also need tape and a toothpick.

If you are new to Kumihimo, please begin by watching our video on how to make a simple 8-warp kumihimo braid.
Based on the technique shown in the video, cut two 3 foot lengths of each of the following colors of S-lon cord: blue, sky blue, capri blue, and white. Tie them together with an overhand knot at one end.
Wind your threads onto the bobbins as shown in the video.
Arrange the threads in your kumihimo disc in the following order: Two strands of blue on either side of the 32 dot at the top, two strands of sky blue on either side of the 16 dot at the bottom, two strands of capri blue on either side of the 24 dot at the left, and two strands of white on either side of the 8 dot at the right. Attach your weight to the knot after you have positioned your cords.
Create a 10 inch kumihimo braid. Then remove your bobbins from the disc, create another overhand knot on the opposite side of your braid, and cut off the excess S-lon.
