Retired - Janet Bracelet

PROJECT B2177
Designer: Kat Silvia
Skill Level: Intermediate
This loomed bracelet is unique because it has a reversible design thanks to the way the Miyuki triangles fit together in nice neat rows.
Instructions

Note: Components and tools listed within this INSTRUCTIONS box and the printer-friendly PDF, if available, may have been discontinued since this project was published. Refer to the PURCHASE COMPONENTS and TOOLS AND OTHER SUPPLIES sections for current availability.

These instructions and this pattern will give you a bracelet that is 5 1/2 inches in length. To adjust the length, you will need to adjust the pattern and spacing of your beading loom accordingly.
  1. To set up the Rick's Beading Loom please watch our video here. You will need to decide how long you want your bracelet to be before you set up the loom. Please note that the clasp will add 7/16th of an inch.
  2. Take the black Nymo and make 9 warp threads.
  3. Take another length of Nymo and begin the weft threads, as seen in the video. Use a length you are comfortable working with because as you work you will need to tie off and add new thread.
  4. To read the pattern you will be alternating the orientation of the beads. So the pattern reflects the order in which you pick up the beads. In order to make it easier to read, I have made the iris beads purple and the black beads black. This is a simple repeating pattern that you can continue to make the bracelet longer. Begin at the bottom of the pattern and work your way up. Start with a row of triangles with the points facing down.
  5. When you are done weaving, remove the piece from the loop.
  6. To attach the clasp, take the tail thread and weave down thru into the row below and up in between the second and third beads in the top row of the piece. With your thread catch the first loop of the clasp and go into the fourth bead.
  7. Thread thru the row and come up between the fifth and sixth beads. With your thread catch the second loop of the clasp and go into the seventh bead.
  8. Finally, tie off and weave in your threads by weaving back down into the loop piece. Trim the tail of the thread.
  9. Repeat the above steps for the other side of the clasp.
  10. Make sure all of your threads are woven in and tied off.
  11. All done!
